i have an idea...what do you think?
 
i want to grow the hair on maggies body long. but i am thinking of doing the "puppy cut" around the face. her ears don't stand up too good...and i am having a very hard time getting her face hair to stay looking good. around her muzzle is always wet from the water, messy from the food, and sticking out everywhere. i am NOT cutting the hair around her muzzle like it used to be...it is growing out. but what do you guys think about the "teddy bear" "puppy cut" around the face and head but letting the rest of the body grow long? keeping the muzzle hair the same length as the chin and cheeks and below the ears. does that sound stupid? does anyone else here have that?

i would GREATLY appreciate any input :D :D :D

I'll be interested in seeing the replies because that's exactly what we are thinking for Jake. Since it's almost winter, we want to let his coat grow out, but we definitely want to trim up his face. Then, in the summer we can give him a puppy cut again.:)

ok, i cut the hair around her chin...all the way up to her ears. i think it looks soooooooooooooo cute!!

hubby is really mad at me for doing it. he said that he thought she looked so "pretty" with it longer. I said "so, you don't think she looks ok??" he said "she looks 'cute' but not 'pretty' "

you know, the longer, flowing hair is more elegant and pretty. this way, she looks more like a puppy :) i agree with him. the good news is that it grows back LOL

i can't get her to sit still to take a picture. but as soon as I do, I will post :)

I'm doing the same thing with Muffin too! I just had her groomed and I had the groomer just cut around her face and feet (and butt of course!). I want her hair to grow long on her body but not on her face. We'll see what happens!

has it been done yet?? i'm curious to see the pics :) and to know if you like it or not.

I haven't really seen any yorkies leave the body hair long but cut the face short...usually its the other way around - shorter body but longer face (although still trimmed up). I think the long hair on the face is what is so pretty...I want the hair on Lacy's face to grow more so than I want the hair on her body to grow. I think long face hair is just so pretty. Shorter cuts are more cute

Thats what I do. I keep the body shorter and the face long. I LOVE LOVE LOVE pony tails :)

yeah, i agree. the long is pretty....the short is cute :)

i think i'm going for "easier maintenance" but still want it to look "good" :)

awwwwwwwwwww I think she looks adorable!!! And, that will be very easy to maintain. It will be so much easier when she's eating and drinking. Jake's face always gets so wet and yucky and I'm always having to wash his face.

Aww..I think she looks cute! Definitely looks more puppyish now. I like it :thumbup:

I do think that if the hair on her body was really long with her face that short that it would look funny though. Maybe if the body was medium-length with the short face it will still look fine

awe...thank you. you can tell she is tired cuz her one ear is flopping and the other one is wanting to flop :) i am sure i can get better pics tomorrow ;)

i agree it will be easier to maintain. but now hubby has me sad that the "pretty" factor is gone :( oh well, it will grow back LOL poor thing...she is my guniea pig LOL

i will never have her hair "really long" i don't want it to go more than maybe a 1/2 inch to an inch below her belly. that is the max for me. it's actually the "length" i want it now...but it is very uneven. the hair on the top of her back isn't as long as the sides. so once that catches up, i will be happy :) but i don't think this will look tooooo bad :)
