Tearing after grooming Now this happened about 2 months ago but my boy's eyes still have some tearing hence I am a little mad now because before going to this particular groomer, he never have had any tearing. I even told her a zillion times when I drop him in for grooming not to touch the hair between the eyes because I have had dogs before and I knew better not to touch the hair between the eyes but she did (oh so mad thinking about it) and all she said when I confronted her was "oh just put vaseline on it" and her grooming price was like $75 too! No way I am going back there. After that groom, fur keep poking in to his eyes and the tearing started. So I tried Vaseline and it didn't work only getting the problem worse so for the last 2 months I have been really patient and diligently sweep away th fur from his eyes like 6 or more times a day. The fur is longer now hence better after 2 months but his tearing hasn't go away 100% yet or I am not even sure if it will every go away. I really hope the tearing wouldn't stay and it would someday go away. Thhanks for letting me vent a little. |
Rockie started tearing @ 3 months. I started giving him distilled water from walgreens. The tearing completely stopped. |
I didn't know about the hair between the eyes, and have no one to blame but my self, now I feel stuck, I've tried vaseline, hair pops through, I'm mostly worried if the hair pokin em is going to cause eye problems, IS tearing an eye problem? |
I never knew distilled water helps, but I do tell the groomer to leave the hair between the eyes alone. |
I'm wondering if this creates a problem when they trim the hair in between their eyes? I've noticed since they recently did Lilly's for the first time... like a month ago or so ever since then she's pawed at her eyes and stuff like they bother her... could this be why? |
Rockie is 6 months and has had his hair trimmed between the eyes 3 times. His eyes teared before I started getting the hair trimmed. I have been using the distilled water and no tearing.:) |

Distilled water doesn't help if that is the issue unless you can control the fur from poking into their eyes which is extremely difficult unless you know how to trim it short and your pup allow you to do so every so often. My last groomer asked me to bring him in every week or two just to trim the fur in between his eyes, I don't see the reason to do that and to pay extra every week or two. Honestly, vaseline really doesn't help when the fur is at a stubborn length. I am just waiting patiently for it to grow out. It really does take a long time! Seriously, if any groomer doesn't take my words seriously again and cut the fur around his eyes again, I think I'd flip! |
Pixie is 5 months and her eyes run alot, the hair down her face is nearly always wet with tears...i suppose it is just a case of waiting for the hair to grow long enough so that it is not at a length that is sticking in her eyes? I did think of trimming the hair myself, should i just leave it then? I'm so glad someone brought this subject up! |
