When do they become cuddly? Bitsy is now 17 weeks and she's so not cuddly. She'll sit on my lap for maybe 2 seconds. If I put her on the couch to sit and cuddle with me, she keeps wanting to jump off. I know she's a puppy and has puppy energy, so I do walk her an hour and a half a day (30 min in the morning, 1 hour in the evening), even that doesn't tire her out. Did your non-cuddlly puppy become a cuddle bug later on? I really want Bitsy to be more cuddly with me. It seems like most of the time she just comes to me for food or treats. I really wanted a lap dog, but she's more independant than my cats! |
Mckenzie only comes to me to cuddle when she wants :p. If I have a treat she'll hang out in my lap all day, but if not she's up and about. I hope she gets more cuddly with me, but I do think they all have different personalities :) |
Cocoa was just like that and I was so sad because I wanted a cuddle buddy too....good news though! He is my little cuddly baby now. I think its just a puppy thing; they have so much energy and have so much to explore so who has time for cuddling? Lol. Trust me, they do calm down. It just happened all of a sudden it seemed too. Now, he gets mad if I don't let him in my lap. If I'm sitting or squatting you better believe he's jumping in my lap. I love it! |
Its been a couple years so its hard for me to remember exactly when but I'd say Chloe didnt get cuddly until after 6 months. I remember feeling the same way you feel. I htink when they are puppies they are just too easily ditracted and busy playing, etc to be cuddly. Now it seems all chloe does is cuddle with me all day and now sometimes I wish she'd play a little more. They grow up so fast! :p |
They're all different Lida wasn't that cuddly at all, now she wants lap time but when she wants it;) . Our chi Reilly was a cuddlebug from day one and always wants lap time:eek: . Titus and Phoebe will cuddle when they are sleepy but usually prefer somewhere other than the lap to sleep:confused: . Mr. Bear only cuddles on occassion:( . |

Slade is 10 mnths old and still not really cuddly, unless the grass is wet and he doesn't want to walk on  Then he is all about being in mommy's arms. Some dogs just arent' cuddlers. With my big dog, she was a cuddler from the time she was a puppy. I can't remember her ever not wanting to cuddle. But she was real sickly as a puppy, so maybe that had something to do with it. She is my velcro dog, if she is out around the house she wants to be right next to me. At night when we sleep she has to curl beside me and "spoon". If I move, she moves to get closer. Its like she cant' sleep unless i'm touching her. |
She may, or she may never..I have 4 dogs, 3 of them love to be held(the youngest 13 weeks) and my 5 year old yorkie wants to be next to me, but doesn't like to be held at all..the only time she come over for me to pick her up is when she's having a reverse sneezing attack |

I sure hope pups get more cuddly as they grow- I have a 12 week old and she'll climb on me occassionally but won't sit with me unless i'm rubbing her tummy! |
Dakota is just around 5 months, and shes starting to be cuddly. Aubrey was from the very beginning. I think each dog is a little different. |
Hahahaha..be careful what you wish for..hehehe.....Bitsy is still very little and she's getting used to all her new surroundings and all her family. Izzy started to get cuddly as soon as I got her but the show/breeder really socialized all her puppies and they were all cuddle bugs when I went to go pick Izzy out. But she is like glue to me (well except when playing with her cat peeps). But she is constantly either on my lap when I do sit down or doing her soft growl when she wants me to pick her up when I'm on the computer on YT. Bitsy will come around - just give it time - she loves you! |
Kalina will be 7 months tomorrow and still isn't cuddly unless she is super tired or not feeling so hot. Otherwise, she won't sit on my lap at all. She sleeps with me at night now and in the morning she cuddles a little bit. |
I think it took Daisy around 6 months too. At first she did not want to cuddle and at night she didn't want to be touched at all (she sleeps in our bed). If you touched her even slightly, she would get up and move out of your reach. Then she gradually became the biggest snuggle bunny ever. She is still very independent and if you want to snuggle and she doesn't she will get up and leave. Our trainer once told us to sometimes sit with Daisy next to you. Then when she gets up to leave, dont say anything, but just gently pull her back toward you so that she knows she will leave when YOU want her to. I do that once in awhile and she gets the message. I think your baby will love snuggling with you in time. I was a little worried about Daisy at first too. |
