OK i tought tucker to dance and he's pretty good at it. i'll try to get it on video |
That is such a good idea! I watch Pet Star often and everytime I wait to see if a Yorkie is on. There was only one Yorkie on there, and it didn't win. Let us know if you audition and if you get on the show! I really want a Yorkie to go on the show and win! |
OK i'll tell you. my lab rusty did so good with me training me so i guess it will go good with tucker too. he is also really smart. i'll tell you all right away trust me. and if i do you have to watch it!!!! well ok you don't have to but just think about us!!! lol |
For some great ideas pick up the book "Do Tricks for Dummies". It's full of wonderful ideas for fun and easy tricks to teach. Have fun. |
My Kipper plays with one of those toys that you have to pull the string and it moves around. It was one of my cat's toys, a little bunny with a bell, and when you pull the little string it hops all around and the little bell jingles. The other day I saw that he learned to hold one paw down on the bunny and then he pulls the string with his teeth to get it hopping around... IT WAS SO FUNNY and CUTE!! He kept doing it over and over again... |

Here is Sully doing some tricks for me... I taught him using a variety of advice, but I was consistent with my methods. Here's a good website that helped me some, I think it's got good advice (if it doesn't work now, try this link back in a couple of hours.) http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/P.../indexorg.html |
Please let us know if you go to Pet Star Animal Planet. I love that show. I will defenitely will love for a Yorkie to win. :) |
I'll defenatly let you know. i just taught tucker to jump over the broom handle. its only a few in. off the ground but he's doing awsome. he seems so willing to learn like thats all he wants. dogs really do just want to please you! the pet star ended a few months ago. so maybe by the time they come around for an audition he'll know some good tricks. last time they came to highland park. i would have brought rusty but i didn't know. (p.s. sully is really talented. maybe if i send tucker to live with you for a while he'll be like that too) yea right like i'd ever do that! lol |

Thank you for the link. I will check it out so i can start teaching Gucci some tricks. Do u use any particular treat to make him more interested? |
wow i've been having major success with just tucker's food tidbits. oh yea i know you shouldn't work the dog too hard but i can't help it. he also learned spin. so now he knows spin, over, and dance. Pet Star here we come!!! |
OK i just have to tell you I tought him one more trick for today its so cute. i put a pillow on the ground and pointed to it. tucker went over and laid down on it. i thought "i could have some fun with this" so i had him sit next to teh pillow so i pointed to the pillow and said "rest" he went and ploped down so fast staring at me with the cutest little face. even if he doesn't make Pet Star this time he can make it next season. he is my little genious lol. |
Megan, Tucker sounds so smart! Riley is too stubborn to learn tricks, but we are going to try to teach TJ lots of tricks too! Good luck with Pet Star! I hope you and Tucker make it! |
My Gucci is very stubborn also. If she has to work for a treat she looses interest. She just try to grab it out of your hand like a petty little thief, . JK. I guess I just wish she will do a trick rite away without having to work at it. Is my fault I know. I need Val to teach my little girl, ;) . |
OK i have to tell you he learned one more. i taught him how to give "paw" i promise now we're done learning tricks for the day!! so now the total is spin, over, paw, rest, and dance. i think we are making progress. :) |
