Need assist I need some help with Bella's coat because I have a groomers appt tomorrow!! I am on the edge of doing another puppy cut but I really want to let it grow to see what happens. Her head, legs, tail, chest and top half of her back are somewhat silky but her rump is somewhat wirey and has lately been getting these coarse white white hairs scattered thru rump area. I read somewhere these hairs will fall out around the third year???? Anyone know about this?? I have always kept her in a puppy cut but since the weather is cooling down was considering to let her hair grow a little. I read on another thread that green reflection in eyes=silky coat?? IS that reliable??Also, I have noticed the top half of her back is smoothed down recently. But by no means is it like the hair on her head. Everywhere the tan meets black this real pretty steel grey color has come in. Sorry this is long. The final question... When you guys are letting the hair grow, YOU just get a sanitary cut?? what about the chest hair??? Thanks thanks thanks in advance!! |
i am having a hard time with maggie's coat too. sounds a lot like your babies. she is a year old. i am trying to grow her hair to see what happens. i only trim the hair on her feet, a little on her face, her ears, and her potty trail. I also kept her belly cut short during the summer but am letting it grow for the winter. it get tangled really easy because it is soooooooo fine. but i was really only cutting it to help her stay cool. now during the winter...i PLAN on growing it...but i might cut it just so i can keep sweaters on her without it matting too bad. on her belly is the only place she ever really matts badly. good luck. let us know what you decide!!! |
I have the same answer as Pepe Mint. I have her ears, feet, and sanitary area trimmed and her belly is shaved. She is so hairy no one can tell her belly is shaved - plus they'll need to shave it when she is spayed anyway. :) |
ask for a touch up... I am an apprentice for a groomer. For yorkies whose hair is growing, they get a touch up which where I work includes: pads, round feet, belly shaved, sanitary for bottom, nails, tip ears(if you want this), anal glands, bath, blowdry, bow for top not and cologne. Brushing teeth is an add on. Good luck on your first visit to the groomers!!:) |
Thanks everyone!!! That is so helpful!! I am off to the pre-groomer's walk. We try to walk at least a mile so she is not so hyper at the groomers!! this is not her first time and I think last time they made a little comment about her being a little rowdy. I bathe her and blow her dry weekly and she never fights me so I hope she behaves today!:bunny: Ok.. I think I am gonna do what you guys suggested!! !!:thankyou2 :thankyou2 :thankyou2 |
1 Attachment(s) Yikes! She did not behave. She jerked when they were trimming between her nose. they took off a bit on the top left snoot.. the groomer called me and we both just laughed cus i know how rowdy she gets. i told her it would grow back and it is really not as noticible as i described on the phone. They only charged my half of what they normally do. Nice bunch of folks. Thanks for everyone's input here is a pic |
