I'm Feeling very sad for Trinity Trinity"s babies are seven weeks old soon and getting ready for new mommies and one of her little girls went for a visit with her new family today.It was the saddest day ever Trinity is just looking all over the house for her likes she is lost or something.I let her say good -bye and she saw her leave but she looked so sad and now hour later she is just laying around like she's sick or something. I feel so guilty how's she going to deal with it when they all go away? Please someone tell me will she be ok and will she forgive me or will she change she"s always so happy and cuddly. Any advice out there! |

7 weeks old is too young to let them go. They really ought to be with her until about 12 weeks. She ought to be ready to see them go by then ;) |
My own experience says that the worst time is when all the pups have gone. Mom just searches everywhere and is sad. If the pups are ready to leave and eat solid food, Mother Nature takes her course and your babe will be as cuddly and loving as ever. It may take a few days. Just give her more love than ever. |
Trinity's baby She just went for a visit over nite so the new mommy could take her to her new vet ,for a check up so she was happy with her choice and to make sure the pup is healthy that's all .I want the new family to be happy with the new baby.She will be home tomorrow.I just felt bad letting her go but I had to make sure the new family would work out for her that's all.She will be with her mommy till she is at least ten weeks old. |
It is a very sad time when its time for puppies to leave. At 7 weeks you shouldnt let the pup leave the mommy. Momma does not know shes only leaving for a little while. and letting them go like that can cause the pup and mom both a lot of stress. I wouldnt even let anyone else handle them until they are older, They can be out and about and get sick and then bring the sickness back to the rest of them. |

Sometimes what sounds like a good idea in theory, turns out to be a bad idea in reality. I am sure your intentions were the best. Making sure the puppy is well suited to the new owners helps to assure the baby won't wind up being rehomed later; and a visit to the vet sounds like a healthy thing ;but, there are many diseases out there that without the vacine protection, the baby is really at risk. I also think that is why your Mommy is worried so much. By the time the puppies are 12 weeks, she is certain they are better able to fend for themselves, and less stressed at their leaving. I'm sure you will be fine when you get the puppy back; but i hope this experience shows you that it is just not a good idea. Let us know when you get the puppy back, and how things went. A better alternative might be to let prospective owners spend time with their puppies in a different room for awhile, but never allowed to take a puppy out for a "visit". puppy Everything is a learning experince...when puppies go to the vet or any place away from the breeders home, they are exposed to "bugs" of all sorts...it is best not to bring them back into your home to be around littermates..until well vaccinated and ready to leave...You may do this 9 times without a problem, but the 10th time you can have a problem, a virus, fleas, etc...it is a matter of keeping the odds in your favor...best wishes |

I think by 10-12 weeks, the Mom's instincts kick in and she realizes that the pups don't need her anymore. She's probably just worried because her natural insticts are telling her that her pup still needs her for nutrition. |
