What to do? Rockie is 6 months and still eating up my walls in the bathroom. I went home on my lunch break and it was a mess. I do not want to crate him at all:( He is still in the terrible two stages I guess:rolleyes: Does anyone have any advice. I know I just have to be patient and it will pass. I do not want him to get sick eating the paint off the walls. |
You need a crate. |
crating or an xpen would be my suggestion..at 6 mos. he should be able to hold his bladder for 6 hours..if you can come home on lunch break I would do that..they will chew until around a year..I've had to replace wall paper, and need a new couch, but, it will wait awhile longer..if you are totally against the crate, maybe the xpen would be another option..that's what I put Ginger in at night |
Does anyone have any pictures of a crate for a 5 pound baby. |
I really wanted to resist the idea of crating him or confining him to a small space. But I have no other altenative to prevent him from getting sick. |
Have you thought about a larger crate? It was a must that slade be crated while I'm gone. My older dog has her own room, but I dont have an extra room for Slade but i hated to confine him to a small crate (even though its usually just for an hr or two. So I got an L crate from Walmart for $54 and he has plenty of room for his toys, bed, and water dish. An xpen would probably give your pup even more room. |
Hi, The xpens are about 4 feet by 4 feet, so they aren't really confined like in a crate. I got mine at Petsmart. Whitney |
sounds like separation anxiety. do a search on the internet or get a book on ideas, solutions and what you can do to help. you should try to take the time and effort to fix it now because as he gets older it will get harder and harder to deal with |
pen 2x3 at least...clamp lid so he can not climb out..good luck |
i have a two by three crate and an ex-pen that's set up in a two by six design. one end has morgan's bed, the middle has a blanket and toys and the other end as her water dish. She mostly sleeps in her bed the whole time i'm gone, because the toys i put in there are always in the same spot when i get home. Think of the crate and ex-pen as a safety area instead of a confinement area. its safer for them when we're not home to watch. |
My son just got a really good deal on his xpen, he got the 540-24 series..you can make them any size you want, I have mine in a rectangle, so there is room for her bed, pee pad, food and water..here's the website..I paid over $70 for mine, his on this website was $40 something with s&h and it's really nice..ordered it on a Wed. night and had it the following Tuesday http://www.petproductdepot.com/Gold-...FR8WQAodBRRRWQ |
I remember when Cody was at that stage... He chewed 3 different corners of the walls towards the bottom. I would say NO real firm and redirect him to toys and chew bones. had to repaint the walls. FINALLY he got out of that.. now he has moved on to tearing up the carpet. not so great when you live in a apartment.. sigh good luck! they will grow out of it eventually! |
Thank you all for replying. I am just to anxious about him getting sick from the paint. I am going to have to invest in the xpen and not think of him being a whiney baby in it:rolleyes: He has really damaged the walls in the bathroom, oh well I've been saying I going to get it painted anyway:p But again he does not need to be eating that paint:( Thanks again and for the website:thumbup: |
