Question for Multiple pet owners Those of you that have multiple pets...Be it Yorkies, Cats, other dogs, etc.... When you go to the vet for your yearly visit(shots & heartworm stuff). Do you take all your guys and get it all over with. Or do you take one pet at a time... When I took the boys- it was roughly $200 for everything....Gunnar had already been and his was like $120 alone due to size...And now that we are adding to the family.....????? I want to spread it out so it does not hit us financially so bad.....And give hubby a stroke....:p and something else to complain about.. Am I a glutton for punishment...Or should I just bite the bullet and get everyone all over with at one time???? |
Well my two go for there yearly annual in seperate months. Like Aubreys is in February and Dakotas is in Septemeber. So mines not a burden that much. |
My two go at separate times only because their vaccines are all due at different times. :) |
I do two at a time at the most. I don't have enough hands to handle more then that. |
my mom has 2 and they are on the same schedule. she doesn't get a second pet discount and it costs a fortune. |
My 3 all go at different times for shots. The only thing I get all at once is their heartworm meds and that cost me a lot. |
My boyz shots are due at different times so they go in seperately, most of the time. We still take them both to all visits but they aren't both seen everytime...did that make sense to anyone but me? Jo goes along just for the ride...we're trying to get him used to being in the truck without getting sick. I guess you can look at it in different ways...if they all go in at once it can be pricey but it's over with for a year or so but if they go in at different times it seems like you're always running to the vet for something. I've had vets who only charge one office call no matter if I bring in one or two but some will charge double even though it really takes up no more of their time. We've only recently found a vet here that we like after visiting several but I feel this one is genuinely interested in the well being of my boyz and not just the $$ and that means a lot to me. |
Thank you all for your input....Gave me some things to think on....I did not even think about the extra office visit...... |
My two Yorkies go together. The two African Pygmy Hedgehogs don't need immunizatons or regular check-ups, so much less expense. On the other hand, the Yorkies are much more fun and sociable! |
I have too many to take at once, so we take groups of two or three. We have ten cats of our own, 3 fosters, and 2 bottle-babies, and then the three australian shepherds, and Wobie. Luckily, our vet is really close, so we can do small groups. |
I have 4 cats and Gracie. They all go at separate times. It is too much to manage Gracie on her leash (she prefers my arms), a cat carrier, my purse, etc. Not to mention the stress on my wallet! The cats seem to be spaced out about a month or so apart. The vaccines allow up to 3 months after the due date to get them, so that helps me space everyone out. That reminds me, it's Gracie's turn! |
I take mine seperately, at least I did at our old vet where the waiting room was always packed. Because Laney, my pit, wants to climb into strangers laps... and strangers aren't always appreciative of that. With her and Slade together I just couldn't do it. |
Mine are all due at different times of the year..luckily or my husband would definetly freak out too!! I have three dogs and two cats!! Dawn |
LOL, we have to space it out! I took all four together 1 time (by myself). Never again!!! :D What a mess. The vet felt sorry for me, I am sure....forget the money, it was too much for me just dealing with four stressed out animals at the vet:rolleyes: (our family grew from 2 to 4 in a short amount of time. 2 had never been a problem, but 4....eeek!!!!). So, now Ginger and Bernie go together, and a couple of months later, Kirby and Fun Kitty go. Whew!!! Easier on the budget AND easier on me! Good luck! And who are you adding to your family?? |
The cats (2 of them) are on the same schedule so they go at the same time. I finally got smart and got bags that could go over my shoulders so one goes on each side. The puppy is on a different schedule so I don't imagine they'll ever go at the same time. |
