You have a beautiful family!!! |
just fyi, I've heard that you shouldn't use used breast pumps. There's no way to get all of the breast milk out of the mechanism and although it's safe to re-use for your own children, it's not safe for re-use with another woman's breast milk. |

Milk never goes into the mec. or the tubing even for this type of pump. :) |

"Note: Though it may be tempting to share or borrow a friend's personal-use breast pump, or buy one used, the FDA and breastfeeding experts caution against it. Breast milk can carry bacteria and viruses — including hepatitis, HIV, and cytomegalovirus — that can contaminate these pumps and pass an infection to you and your baby. Because droplets of milk can get into the internal parts of these pumps, using your own collection kit doesn't necessarily make them safe to use. Pumps designed for multiple users, like rental pumps and hospital pumps, don't have this problem. They're designed to prevent breast milk from getting inside the pump. So as long as you use them with your own personal collection kit, they're safe. To find out whether a pump is okay to use secondhand, check the packaging or call the manufacturer. If it's designated as a "single-user" pump, it should be used by only one person." |
btw...did you just have a little girl? I'm due to have a baby girl at the end of the month. :) |
1 Attachment(s) What a cute family. How old are your Children? You look like me 22 years ago. My boys are 18 months apart, then our daughter is 2 years and 4 months younger than than our 2nd son. Those were the days......:D  :p Here we are today: Brad : will be 26 on sunday! Tim : will be 25 Dec. 2007 Kelli : was 22 April 2007 And "MOOSE" 9 months!!!:animal36 Boy I'm old!! lol Enjoy!!:animal-pa |
I used to be a representative for Medela. Their pumps are designed so that milk never enters the mechanism. Also, the parts that actually touch the breast and collect milk are all available separately from the mechanism, so you could use all new parts for the milk collection. There should be no problem with buying a used Medela. Other brands I could not speak for. |

I'm waaaayyy past the baby stage, but you sure do have a beautiful family:) |
Boy do I wish I had the chance to buy one used back when Kate was born! I paid a small fortune for mine! And I tell you it was the best investment I ever made!!! I had bought twoo other brands before I forked over the cash for the Medela. But I tell you there is just nothing that compares! Its the best pump hands down! I used it with both of my children and I nursed for aprox 8 and 10 months with them. It was my bestest friend! Whoever picks that up is getting a great deal! I wish I had a family member who was expecting, I'd grab it! Oh... and a local baby store down where I'm at purchaced my pump from me used and they rent them out to moms who don't want to buy them. They just replace the tubing, breast cups and bottles with each renter... Those parts are cheap compared to the powerful moters your really paying for. ;) And OMGosh! If you guys aren't the poster for perfect looking family, I don't know what is???? You have the most beautiful family!!! Your boys are so handsome! That hair! I'm sure you've never been told how amazing their hair is... so let me be the first! lol:rolleyes: Wow! You must be so proud! k |
I will be interested in buying baby clothes .... Quote:
