Busy Buddy Toys well, i probably should have asked first, but i just bought some toys from busybuddytoys.com for Edgar the Pit Bull trapped in a Yorkie body. Has anyone else ordered anything from this company? how did it go? I also looked for some good toy recommendations, but most of the toys everyone else recommends, he will tear to shreds. even the rip-ems. he would tear it apart and then tear the stuffing out, same with the squirrel in a tree (which is a super cute idea). he has also destroyed those canvas kind that are labeled "indestructible." yep. we do have some kongs, but he is pretty tough on those. he has chewed off some pieces of rubber on the kong stick and isn't really into the ball. he's also pretty quick at getting the treats out. *has anyone gotten the kong thing that is on a timer and spits out like 4 kongs??* i can't let him play with things similar to tennis balls. (he loves to rip the felt off, but then he chokes or gags and bleh on the floor...) i will update on the stuff i got, a "bouncy bone" with treats to go on it and a "tug-a-jug" with treats to go in it also. |
I have a tug-a-jug and it's a complete and total HIT at our house!!!!!!!!! It will entertain all three of my dogs for hours! |
I will look forward to your review, my daughters yorkie destroys all his toys also. |
We love them. We call them "purple things" They are even a hit at our local farmer's market where we are selling them! |

I have two that love to destroy, too. :( |
tug a jug war OK, I got one of the tug a jug's today. We now have a war in our house. :( First they were all (4 of them) leery of it. Then Kaya started getting treats out and growling at anyone else who came near. Then Tinka took it and hid with it under the couch. I brought it back out again and showed them how it works and played with them a few minutes. Next, they're fighting over the treats with Kaya being the brat. I took it away from her and Tinka and Myla took it under the couch daring anyone else to come near. I just shook some treats out and they are peaceful for the moment. I REFUSE to buy 4 of these!!!! :thumbdown The problem is, is that Kaya won't rest till all the food is gone from these kinds of toys and the other dogs follow her around waiting for the treats to fall out. They just let her do the work. Then the fights erupt over getting the treats.... What kind of treats work well in these? - some things with no coloring. The Yorkie Yummies are too small - they come out way too easily. (but the dogs sure enjoy it!) I suppose just putting some kibble in would work. Anyhow... I am going to put it away for now - I can't take any more. |
That's what I was afraid would happen in my house:( Even if I bought 2 I know they'd fight over 1. Aaaggghhh! |

well, my toys haven't come yet, but i saw an everlasting treat ball at petsmart and thought, "what the heck!" he looves it. BUT!!!! he got the treat out in less than 10 minutes. (it came with one treat and i put some of his dry dog food in the other side). then i put in the 2 that came in the refill pack thinking it would "roll" around better. i tried to have him keep it on the tile so it would roll like it's supposed to. nope, back on the carpet and he's got the other 2 out and eaten! *sigh* he does seem to like the treat ball even without treats in it. i also saw a "cube" thingy. they were out of the mini cubes. i think i may take the big one back. he just can't manipulate it around. but he gets really excited about it when to food falls out. he seems to be doing better with the separation anxiety with some cool toys to play with. thanks for the reviews above. luckily our lab only terrorizes stuffed toys. all of edgar's other stuff she won't touch. (she's so prissy!) |

We have the ELTB too and one of mine get out the treat right away. I bought her the medium and she can't get that out, but she still goes after the smaller ones when the other dogs have them. :( We also have the Buster Cube. Only one dog really gets the food out and the rest of the dogs follow her around to eat what she gets out! They have two of the smaller size. |

do you use the cubes and others to help them eat slower or more as a treat/occupying toy? edgar is such a piggy! (seriously, he snorts when he gets excited and will belch after every meal!) he does run over to Ganja's bowl to see what she's left and he'll eat that, too! he's going to be a dang 30lb yorkie by the time he's 3! |
ok, i took back the big buster cube and got him a "Tricky Treats Ball." it didn't take him long to figure it out and he loves it! the hole is somewhat large tho and at first it comes out fairly quickly. but he knows if it rattles there is still something inside. he's emptied it out every time. :) hooray! |
ta da! my box came yesterday. (er, edgar's box). he went nuts! he could smell the stuff even tho i set the box on the ironing board. he is finally starting to figure out the tug-a-jug, but i think it may take a bit longer. he doesn't seem very interested in the bouncy bone with rawhide chew treats for some reason. i thought he might like it the best. maybe on monday when i'm at work he'll play with it more. he's like that with some other things. i also got some buddy treats or buddy oh's. he loves those! they sort of look like honeybunches of oh's cereal, but for dogs. about the company--the customer service was excellent. i had a reply to an email question the same day and she was very friendly. hope that's helpful to some other PIT-KIES! haha |
I am looking at the website now. Trying to decide which one to get Aubrey. DO you put treats in all of those toys? |
If anyone wants to know about the busy buddy toys I just ordered a bunch of them. I'm going to be selling them on my new website (that I should be working on, not chatting on YT! ;) ) We prefer the squirrel and twist-n-treat as treat/food dispensers. I'd say I can get 1/2 of Loki's meal in there. The football is good for sticking a treat in like you would with a kong. The squirrel is also like a Kong but it has prongs so you don't have to use PB, you can just put kibble or treats in. Loki is a puzzle-toy pro and he had a difficult time with the Waggle. He played with it, but just couldn't get the treats out. The Chuckle is too big for Yorkies. The tug a jug is cool and can fit a whole meal, but I haven't let Loki try it yet. I will order more if you all like the tug-a-jug. Hopefully the site will be up by July 1st, but if anyone has questions please ask I'm happy to help! We love these toys that much! |
i bought the bouncy bone and rawhides to put on it, but you do not have to put treats on it. he will chew it without and so far it is lasting pretty well. all the other toys above i have and do put treats OR his dinner in. i also ordered a mini cube online and it came yesterday. it is much easier for him to push around and get it to roll over. you can change the treat dispensing from max to min to make it less or more challenging as they get better at using it. my son asked me why didn't i get the treat dispenser and i told him i wanted to see if he liked the other stuff first and how it held up. we may get that one next. we haven't had ANY problems with him being bored and poo-ing on the floor since we've started getting these "challenge" toys. |
OK. So you have not had any problems out of them? IM trying to decide which one to get. Which one do you prefer, or do you prefer all of them? LOL. |
The squirrel is my favorite. Loki's favorite is the Twist-n-Treat, but he has a harder time getting the kibble out with that one. When he's done he carries it around. He will even bring it to me and drop it on my feet so I will re-fill it. The football is probably the easiest and smallest. Sammy actually likes a completely different toy called the freeze n chew. I've got those too! :D Sorry I'm trying to work full time and get this website going AND do our local farmer's market. I promise I'll get it up soon. We haven't tried the tug-a-jug but it sure looks like fun! Oh, and we've never had one break. Loki is a power chewer - he destroys Bully Sticks. So far no problems. |
the tug a jug is cool in concept, but i don't think he likes it very much. it took him a long time to figure out how to use it. i'm going to put his dinner in it tonight and see how it goes. i may order the twist and treat next. these seem like they are pretty indestructible. |
Also, I don't know if you are supposed to or not, but I put mine in the dishwasher. I will look on the package when I get home and see if it says anything about that. Sometimes they are really gross to clean even if they get all the food out because they are all slimy!!! |
they are top rack dishwasher safe. that was another selling point for me. and when the box came...oooh he went crazy! (don't know if i said that already.) he eats the rawhide chews really fast and loooooves the little buddy-ohs. |
When you get your website up, you need to send me the link! |
Yeah, IM thinking about getting one, just haven't made up my mind on which one to try, even though Aubrey just got three new toys last week.. SPOILED boy!!! |
edgar has figured out the tug-a-jug. it is pretty noisy, as mentioned above, but he eats slower that way and knows what's in it. he has not chewed any of the nubbies off of the rubber ball on the top either (a mIRacLe!). enjoy your purchases!! |
Ever Lasting Treat Ball This is the only one that Tricksie can't destroy. She has taken the treat out a few times. The Kong toys, she started eating. Don't know what to do with a chewer. |
updating 8-13-07 the tug-a-jug is still standing strong. edgar has figured it out just fine and really plays with it. i recently ordered a small twist-a-treat and a small squirrel dude. the squirrel dude is GREAT!! it is similar to a kong, but the little "treat meter" fingers really help keep the treats in longer. it's also kinda cute with it's little squirrel face. i recommend! it's bouncy and unpredictable and even with no treats in it, edgar self initiates play. he has not been able to destroy it, even with some serious chewing. however, the twist-a-treat is becoming quickly destroyed. it was smaller than i expected it to be (i don't break out a ruler to see how big something might be). and since he likes it so much, he's chewing around the edges, sort of like a frisbee. you can twist it to meter the treats, but he has actually somehow untwisted it once. the yorkie yummies ARE too small and fall out quickly, but he looooves the yummies. (and so does our lab. she'll sit, shake, and stay for a yummy!) i'll keep updating as i order new things from this company. |
I'm surprised your twist n treat isn't holding up. That's Loki's favorite and we've had it for over a year. Try the football, that might be more durable. These are our favorite toys. I sell them, in case anyone is interested! |
What flavor tiny bits and bites does your yorkie like the best? I am definately going to order! Sounds like my guys will have ablast:animal36 |
Hi medusa512 I bought one of those toys. It's called "Kong Time". It pushes a kong out at timed intervals. Zoe loves it. Some times she'll sit there to see if it's time for one to come out lol. I bought mine at Small Breed Toys Etc. website. They had really nice prices. |
