Catnip?
 
I have a cat, and my little pup loves playing with the cat's toys, probably because they're small enough for him to handle. The other day, though, he found one filled with catnip. He seemed to love the toy, but I took it away from him because I didn't know if catnip is safe for Yorkies. Does anyone know? :animal-pa

Roxy loves catnip - so far she has had no ill effects other than sneezing when she gets it up her nose. I asked the vet and he said not to worry. Remi has been playing with the cat's toys, too and he is only 11 weeks old.

morgan plays with catnip too and we've seen no ill effects. :)

All of mine grab & play with the cats toys with catnip all the time and no problems so far...:p

no i don't think catnip has the same effect on dogs as it does on cats. tho morgan acts crazy all the time when playing so i couldn't tell you for sure :p

Percy pretty much just plays with cats toys now. Except for his Kong, and a little yellow duckie.

When he came home, I went out and bought all these cute little doggie toys, the only thing he wanted to play with was the cats toys :rolleyes: . I figured...why fight it?

Ryder & Tucker love Tig's toys ! The only thing I have had to put away was the fuzzy mice as thet chew them ...Tig ISN'T happy about that as he LOVES his mice . We tried giving them to him in the basement to play with but he brings them upstairs and drops them at the BOYS so they can play too .....:aimeeyork

Catnip, makes cats act goofy, it messes with there senses or something, and they jump off the walls, We have a kitty kat named sassy, but she wont play with the catnip right now cause shes prego....lol, but now that I know that its ok for yorkies, I'm gonna see if Rainbow will like it!

We buy cat toys for Mojo a lot because of their small size...I always cut the seam and remove catnip and replace it w/ an xs squeeker.......not that there is anything wrong w/ the catnip...he just likes the squeeker noise.

Oh my! Harley LOVES catnip! I took it away from him as well, because I thought it would hurt him, but I guess it's alright for him. Lucky Harley! :D

I bought our cats this little catnip toy on a string, and my dog tore it off the string and he plays with it. He likes the catnip part, and it has some noise maker in it to:).

I just bought Roo a cat toy yesterday on accident and she loves it- it makes a crinkly noise- they're just the right size for such a tiny dog!

Jake has played with my son's cat's toys with catnip, and he was fine. It doesn't have the same effect on him as it does the cat. I've even bought him a couple cat toys. He likes them because they're small enough for him to carry around or toss in the air.:D

Aubrey likes to carry them around also. I got one cat toy for the cats, and Aubrey took over it... guess thats what there suppose to do..lol.

That's a great idea! I just saw a bag of replacement squeakers at Petsmart the other day. Oh, oh, oh! I just realized that I can sew my own yorkie-size squeaky toys with my sewing scraps! My husband is laughing at me right now. I guess that's a bit of a no-brainer! LOL

Reeses loves playing with the cats toys and the majority of them have catnip in them and we havent had any problems. I never even thought about the catnip bein in there with him playin with it til reading these posts. Lol.

Jaxon always plays with our cats mice & little catnip toys!!! They are fighting over a little mouse all night!!! I found a new one at petsmart with some fufu feathers on it's body!!

My dogs love cat toys. I think because they are smaller and more important because they belong to the cats.
