parental debate about toys Someone told my boyfriend that when her pup was going through his yappy stage she gave him a pacifier that worked both with teething and barking problems. I seem to think that a pacifier is not the safest toy for a puppy. Has anyone ever heard this or done the binky think before? |
3 Attachment(s) Seriously, like a real baby binky? I dunno about that, but when our Starr (RIP) was about 9 months old or so, she found a binky under the couch that our friend's baby had dropped there. I think I have a picture of it, hang on......... K, I found them:D She still barked her fool off:laugh: Of course I didn't let her keep it, didn't feel it was safe:( |
I have seen some pups with binkys. Lexi's mom I believe said Lexi used on as a pup. When I see them they are just too cute. They melt my heart.:animal36 |
Oh no, I don't think it would be safe to give a puppy one because they are very thin and will brake with all the chewing!! :thumbdown |
My dogs have always used them and I never had any problems -- although I don't let them use it during the day when I'm not home. |
I would be afraid of them, my crew are aggressive chewers and they would be in bits and pieces in no time flat. |
I remember one member (no longer on here) mentioned a long time ago about her little Yorkie getting her babies bottle and chewed off the end of the nipple and got choked........so, aren't the pacifers made of the same thing?? I don't know, but I would kind of be afraid. Mojo doesn't chew things up, but I would be afraid of that getting stuck in his throat?! Like anything else, it just depends on your furbaby and what you are comfortable with! |
mine would chew them up too. I have had to take all their rubber toys aways because of chewing the ends off them. |
Sounds like an all around BAD IDEA There are plenty other safe doggie products out there that will offer you the same end results than a baby's pacifier. |
Mine would chew up a baby pacifier |
The dog I had growing up, a miniature poodle looooves pacifiers! Dugan's about 13 now, and still likes to play with them. And he looks so cute with a paci in his mouth. When he was little, he chewed through them quickly- but they were a great little toy. I haven't tried them with Dobby yet (we just got him last week!)- since I don't have any babies around to nab a binky from :) . That's just my experience, hope it helps. |
no they will chew pieces off and swallow it!~~ they could cause their intestines or stomach to be clogged needing surgey and possibly kill the puppy or they could poop it out either way not a very smart idea at all |
