Yorkie's will usually play with anything that you can buy them. Try buying him like fuzzy bones with the squeaky bubble inside and incidentally what is a toner toy. Or try buying him the little red bouncer snowmen that you can put the treats inside of he might like those. |
Chattie, Chizzie and Peppy's favorite chew toy of all times is ....... my husband Ron! They love his toes! When toes are covered, fingers will do just fine. Chizzie loves the little balls with bells inside and Chattie and Peppy favor Dr. Noy's tiny stuffed animals with squeakers that can be replaced. |
Unfortunately, Susan has developed a new penchant for art supplies. Not good. A lot of them could hurt her. Plus she probably cost me a good $25 over the past few days and she hasn't even managed to get hold of the things she really covets. |
I have learned that every dog is different. When I first got my fur baby, everyone was telling me I had to get a kong. "Kong! Kong! Kong!" "Dogs love Kongs!" "Get a Kong!" So of course, I did. And wasn't I surprised when he hated it, simply refused to look at it much less touch it. So you have to try a few things and see what works for your dog. |

My dog love the little rubber squeaky toys. And little stuffed animals with squeakys in them. They HATE the kong toy and anything I pay good money for  and hard toys or the hard rubber chew things. Basically it has to make noise :D to entertain them. |
Hi...I'm new to the board today... I have a Yorkie/Chi mix and she is ADORABLE. The very best thing she likes to play with is socks. She has LOTS of "real" toys but still likes socks best. She has this "thing" she does..she loves to grab my fingers...only mine...she doesn't do it to anyone else...go figure. While I'm on here I must tell you that when I first got her (June 2004) she was a terror..I did NOT know how to handle this puppy..she was 15ozs and a demon..I had just lost my 11 year old Boston a few months earlier and we decided that we couldn't handle the emptiness any longer and would look for a new puppy... we wanted a completely different breed because we just knew we wouldn't be able to ever have another Boston..she was our one and only and could never be replaced.Anyways, I know this is long but to get to the point..are all yorkies terrors or maybe it's the chi in her.I've never had a chihuahua and don't know any one who does. Just to let you all know..she is PERFECT now. |
Socks, Squeak toys, Paper Towels, Bones, Paper Plates, Anything that they're not supposed to, Paper napkins, Rocks, Toilet Paper, Paper Pee Pads Paperback books, Did I mention PAPER??? |
The number one toy that my girls turn to again and again is a piece of bedsheet which my husband tied some knots on! That can play tug of war for hours and growl at each other, trick each other and chase each other :) When we only had one dog, it was her favorite toy as well, as long as we had the energy to play tug of war with her - no fun alone! If she was to occupy herself for a while, we would give her a chewing stick made of ox hide, a nice big one that would be a challenge to her - that was a hit as well. Now that they are 2, even if we give them one each, the funniest thing is to trick the other ones stick away :) |
Scoozies! 2 Attachment(s) The Winner and the Absolute #1 Favorite: Scoozies: Beavers, Ferrets, Otters, Pine Martens and others. About 12" long, each Scoozie makes many individual sounds when pressed (bitten) on the back. They used to be in stores, but are now found on e-Bay. My Yorkies love them! Second Place: The 4" Plush Squirrel Kong and the 4" Plush Chipmunk Kong, they have removable/replaceable squeekers and rate second to Scoozies. Third Place: A Red Rubber Snake that I cannot find anywhere! They have bitten off it's nose and it's tail (obviously it no longer squeeks). I wish I could find this toy again! I also buy the rope knots ~ I buy a "big dog" one with a knot at each end, and cut them in half, kind of a two for one. Both my Yorkies pick up their toys. I pick them up and put them all in a basket. Chipper piles them all in Dad's chair. Mini piles them all by the backroom sliding glass door. Around and around we go! |
It sounds like some Yorkies are terrors, but Susan has been pretty lady like most for the time since day one. She occasionally comes up with a bad habit (like stealing art supplies) but mostly she just wants to please. Mom's Yorkie is what I call an air dog. She flies. Her paws hardly ever touch the ground in the living room -- she just sails from chair to chair or table to table. |
Susansmom...I can relate to the table thing, Katie just loves to be "up" on things...she likes to get up on the back of the sofa..on the end tables and when hubby sits in the recliner she climbs to the top of his shoulders...she has NO fear and of course I'm running to get her in case she falls...and yes, she loves to eat paper...she ate my pay check and I had to put the pieces in a baggy and take them back to get a new one. She "stole" $20.00 out of hubbies pocket once...she "steals" everything and anything but paper is her favorite.. |
my Sophie love cat balls! they are like 97 cents ot petco and super cheap at walmart... she loses them so often i have to buy more... she loves the ones with the bell inside.. seem to keep her occupied for a short period... |
oh yeah... usually i shop more in the cat section for sophie... just use common sense and don buy the ones with feathers and things that can easily be swallowed... |

Too funny, Obie LOVES toes! You can't get dressed without him, going for your toes. I usually get his flossie and keep him entertained as I dress, but poor daddy. His toes are scrumptious!! |
Beenies India is absolutely in love with her little beanie bunny, smaller than a beanie baby. it's soft, but has a little bit of a "chew" factor. She flips it all around and literally throws it across the room. It's also machine washable...not sure what we'll do if it ever gets lost or chewed on for good! |
