HELP! I need a Yorkie Proof Ball My big boy who is over 10 lbs loves to play soccer with me (and often wins) but I have yet to find a ball he cannot shred in short order (except a basketball...which is too hard and heavy to safely play with) kick balls, which are light and "just right" allow him to gain a dental advantage which quickly translates into Orbus Deflatus...if anyone has found a product that is impervious to the fierce jaws of my canus horriblis...I'd appreciate a heads up. |
What about a soccer ball? Or if you inflate the kickball with a lot of air, so your boy has less grip on it with his teeth? Orbus Deflatus... Funny words there! :) |
We have a little GIRL (also 10lbs) who loves to play ball but as we live in Wales we have different names for various things so it's hard to tell you the type of ball she likes but it is lightweight and she has so much fun and they are so cheap to buy! She plays "footie" - you probably call it "soccie"!! to her hearts content!! |
LMAO......... the difference between english in america and english in the UK is hilarious...... i have a friend that is english and he always makes fun of ME and MY ACCENT........ hehehe, im from california i dont have an accent everyone else does :p |
I have a lab that loves to play with soccer balls. I've found that you can find them pretty cheap at thrift stores and such, we have one here and sometimes you can get the balls for like 10 to 99 cents. Also they do have small soccer balls you could try one of those, I know Toys R Us carries them and probably Wal-mart too. My lab will eventually chew holes into the soccer ball though but they do tend to last a while. |
You guys are forgetting ... Browniesmom622 and her yard of balls! Look for "look what i bought!!!!" I love this idea! |
Thank you all... Yes, we did have a soccer ball, and it took him a considerable amount of time to destroy it...but it was a little hard and heavy ...my boy likes to "nose" them after a bounce...I'll try to get a still of him in action and post it...and I was concerned about his marring his excpetional good looks...(also our little girl is often nipping at him as we play and I have to be especially careful to not loft one her way)....so what I was hoping for was perhaps the unobtainable...something light but tough...but I do appreciate all the suggestions...as it is...I've been buying these great balls at 2.99 a pop, but they just don't last too long...and I guess I'm feeling a little too indulgent if I start factoring in a monthly expense of about 10-15 dollars just for "toys"...Lord knows I never thought this would happen to me...that I would turn into one of those gray haired men I used to laugh at with their little dogs...(and talk baby talk to boot)...I almost make myself sick...but I sure do love these "kids"... |

What about the over-size tennis balls that they sell? Or are those too heavy also? |
I like the Hollee Rollers. Lightweight but sturdy rubber with openings so they can get a grip on them. Hollee Roller |
Is anything really yorkie proof :D lol. |
If anyone find anything that is light and yorkie proof please let us know!! I did recently buy Gypsy Rose one of the large size tennis balls, it's a BIT heavy but ok and it has survived a week almost.... any day now I reckon..!! I do wish she was more "lady-like!" (not really, I love to see her play "footie"!) Her baby sis, Gizzie has a very different way of playing and Gypsy can't understand her.... she sort of tries to balance on the ball, maybe she was a circus dog in another life?! Ana xx |
Me too. |
Funny that I just got notified of a reply, if only because Zeke managed to deflate another new ball yesterday, he carries it around in his mouth triumphantly, as though he's made a "kill", I suppose that's a large part of their incentive ...subduing the bouncing enemy...anyway, appreciate again all the responses, you'll see me at Walmart this afternoon by the big ball display... |
If you are looking for a solid large ball. Check out Jolly Balls. |
