Cat tree for Bon Bon Yup. My little guy has his very own cat tree. He can hop from shelf to shelf and get to the top. It is also in front of a sliding glass window and he can see the entire fenced in yard from his favorite level. Why? There are three large dogs living in the house with him. He sometimes needs a space to get away. He can also duck between the bottom legs and dart out to play-attack his siblings. We will put toys or treats on the top level that he doesn't have to defend from his siblings. Since his toys are quite small, his siblings are at risk of swallowing them whole and they have simply chewed some of his toys to bits with their much larger teeth. We thought about other ways for him to have a safe space, but the cat tree works quite well. |
Very unique idea, now Bon Bon is the king of his own mountain lol, what ever works. |
I can relate - we too had to create ways for our older dogs to be able to get away from the teenagers/puppy punks ... Just be careful that the cat tree is not high enough to jump/fall from ... Maybe some pillows underneath for safety? I fostered and rescued many little dogs and all of them are at risk of serious injuries even just jumping from a couch. My vet recommended not letting the little ones do stairs even ... as the constant impact is hard on their joints - we installed ramps. However ... I too have a mountain climber yorkie mix here and at 12 weeks she loves to climb trees, the couch - any and all high ground ... her brother can climb wire pens and gates like some free climber ...... it is a constant struggle to keep these nutters safe - small but mighty hahaha ... |
I had one climber, scaled a 4' high lattice indoor gate. I swore that lil gal had monkey genes. Yorkies are a very determined breed when they have their mind set on something lol. Ya just gotta love these lil monkeys lol. |
Max used to climb the sofa chair that sat in the front window. He would jump on the seat and then jump onto the top of the back and get comfortable. He would lay there looking out the window until i got home every day. Sasha is not a climber at all. We have stairs for her to get on the couch. |
