More toy questions I have tons and tons of stuffed animals from when my kids were babies. The are adults now, and being the kind of mom that saved everything they ever had, lol…I now have a large supply of baby stuffed animals. My kids don't want them, even for their kids (which haven't happened yet). Question is, if I remove beaded eyes etc, and sew them closed, do you think they would be safe for a puppy and older dog to play with? |
I would think so , you could even pull a seam apart and put a squeaker in and sew it back together. Bella loves squeakers LOL |
lol, my daughter had a build a bear from an old boyfriend (that turned into a pretty bad stalker) she didn't want anymore. Those bears are really nice and well built. It had one of those message boxes inside that had a cheezy love message recorded by her old BF. Well, my next daughter got a new puppy. She gave the puppy that bear as a toy and every now and then the puppy would be playing with it and press the voice box and the bear would speak. The dog was so intrigued with that it was hilarious to watch. And it was fun for us too because we'd refer to the bear as the old BF's name, so we'd start talking to the dog and saying things like stop biting "T..." or "save us from T..!" Then one day, the puppy murdered him. True story.....:D I think if you remove the eyes, they'd be fine. There's just more stuffing to pick up if they tear them..... |
Every single stuffed animal toy I find (from my childhood whenever I clean up my old room at my mom's place), Scottie thinks it's his! Like he claimed them all! hahaha.. it's funny how excited he gets. I remove the eyes, for sure, and any hard plastic bits that were sewn on. Learned my lesson when he chewed off and ate the little 2mm eyeball off my first childhood toy I shared with him. |
I did this, Joey especially loved some of the teddy bears with their long legs. Petsmart sells a package of squeakers that I put in some of the toys after removing their eyes. I also used the plastic/wax paper that cereal comes in, as a stuffing, it's more noisy than regular wax paper and they just loved the nose it made. I love to recycle stuff! |
We like to win toys from the midway at Circus Circus for Uni and Toto. They don't mind they don't have squeakers. In fact one of Uni's favorites is a big shark I won for her. Lot's of toys have embroidered eyes now too. |
I agree . . Give it to them . . What could happen. . A house full of puff ! LOL |
Be careful about the hair and beans, Lola can't have hairy toys because she rips the hair out. |
I let my boys destroy old cheap stuffed toys. Things I had won at a carnival, things my girls have been given (that are super yucky) or won in the claw machines. The only real problem I have with those items are the cheap fake eyes that I'm afraid will choke them, so I take those away as soon as they are dislodged. |
