Strange white fiber getting out of squeaky toy I bought a squeaky chicken toy for my Yorkie and when I removed the price tag some white fiber thing started going out and wouldn't stop, I tried to cut it and it still came out, I burned it and it kinda worked but I'm worried what would happen if my Yorkie licks it or so, what should I do? Should I give it to him like that or buy a new one? |
Do not give anything like that to you dog. You have no idea what it is and your dog may very well try to eat it. Contact the seller and manufacturer if you can and take a picture of what happened to it to attach to the email. But never give anything that has an unknown substance coming from it to a dog. |
I agree I'd call the manufactur of the toy. Most of the time they will send you a new one(: |
I would toss that toy out... Not something I would want my two chewing on. |
1 Attachment(s) It sounds like polyester fiber fill. Does it look like this? Attachment 366142 Throw pillows and toys are stuffed with this, and sometimes when you tear off the tag, you also tear open the seam. I've had this happen and I just sew the seam back up. If you don't sew, take it back to the store, and next time clip the tag instead of tearing it off. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but since many of the toys are coming from China, there have been some problems with contaminants. I suggest washing all cloth toys before using them as well. |
I bought a little squeaky pig for Sheldon and this morning I noticed him chewing away, when I looked he chewed up and cut part off the toy and there was stuffing on his bed. Why do they put that stuff in those squeaky toys? |

Some of these toys are hazardous! I have a friend who lost her little one ... she came home to a pup that had choked to death on a toy. :( It was one of those toys that make the sounds that are not the same as a simple squeak. If you take those things apart, they have weird concoctions inside of them. There is a stick in some with some netting and something that is not fiberfill. If a toy makes kissing or animal sounds, I will not buy them!! Those toys often have small batteries inside of them.....I took a couple apart in my home, saw the above mentioned items and dumped every toy that had a "cute sound". |
I only allow my guys to play with toys when I am home and supervising them. I may be too cautious but...better safe than sorry is my motto. |
I just bought Lola some large (for her size) rubber squeaker toys from Wallmart and she loves playing with them, then I noticed a pile of pillow type fiber on the floor, which she pulled it out through a fine hole. I could not believe how much there was, and other than pulling it out she did not bother with it, just went back to squeaking the toy. I pulled as much as I could out of the toy and it still works. She only plays with toys when we are home. That is one of the reasons I don't like a toy box on the floor, she just gets a couple of different toys at a time that I can see her play with and make sure they are in good shape or they get thrown out. |
Well My kid have two or three soft toys and they really enjoy with that. |
My girls have ate the fiber before. They should be able to digest it. If yor little one eats some they should be fine if it is a small amount I called my vet the first time Lizzie did that. Id they eat a little I would check their poop you will see the fiber mixed in. It sounds gross but they will just pass it. The bigger issue is rubber toys. If they eat the rubber it could cause a blockage. I have had four Yorkies total and they have all ate the fiber at some point. I even had Lizzie chew up a section of carpet and she was fine. The best thing is check their toys daily if there is a problem just toss it. The younger your baby is the more you will notice notice this behavior. I like giving my little one raw b Hide to chew on. A lot of the shredding comes from them teething |

I feel the same way. When I leave my dogs I leave them with nothing to eat or chew on or play with! I just get too nervous. Of course, I normally dont leave for very long, so they are just fine. |
