I have one that is a year old and he does the same thing. The Kong Wubba he tears to tiny shreds, the Kong tennis balls end up with no fuzz on them and all over my house and the rubber squeaky toys last no time. He loves to chase balls and I found a baby toy that he will chase all over the house. I figured if it was good enough for an infant surely it would be ok for him to play with. So far so good. Had them a few months and they still look like new. I attached a link to them but I think I found them at Wal-Mart and they were maybe $6 or $7. Good luck. The Ty Bow Wow are still holding up around here! And that's a miracle! Lol |
We just bought Jaeger a kong Cozy-i know one person said their dog tore it up but it seems pretty durable-we'll see how it goes. |
I haven't found a toy that my Bolt cannot destroy! However I did find something that he loves. When my pantyhose are no longer wearable, I tie them in large knots until they are about a foot long. My babies play fetch and tug of war with them, and so far they have held up. When they need washed, I just throw them in the washer with the rest of the laundry. |
For anyone with toy destroyer yorkies, take a look at this thread! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...able-toys.html |
Jasmin is really good with her toys. Once in a while i will have to patch up one or two holes. We get her only clearance stuff animals. We got her a kong rubber toy and she hates it. |

The best things I've found are the pieces of stag horn that you can buy. Some of the pet shops sell them here so think they're probably easily available in other countries. They last my Yorkies forever, though the non edible Nylabones ( there are different types, some are edible) do too. Now I just need someone to recommend something my Skyes can't eat  They eat The black Kongs, the very largest Nylabones, you name it, they've eaten it. Someone did suggest I begged a length of sewer pipe next time I pass a construction site  |
My puppy is six months old and he does the same thing. He has not yet destroyed the Kong toy so maybe give that one a shot. |
both Lily and Taka are toy destroyers! the only toys they dont seem to tear to pieces is the bones for teething, Nylabone is the company...i dont remember what they are called but on the package it says "for heavy chewers" lol i buy the medium sized ones and it seems to last a few months. |

That all being said, I wouldn't doubt their toys to be extremely durable as well...we might try some, as we have a very heavy chewer in this house, too. The beds I bought because I just needed a tiny bit more money spent in order to get free shipping on their food and treats, so I just randomly added something - so glad I did. |
It is so funny that these little guys with needle teeth destroy more toys then the big dogs lol |
I just saw a post on Facebook that Fugly Friends is having a sale this coming Tuesday! :) |
doggie chewing machine Hi, My boy J.R. is a heavy chewer. I find the only things that work is getting him porkhide rolls that are large. Don't get the mini ones or ones that have tied knots. I supervise his play with these rolls. he gets tired out and leave them alone and later return to resume his chewing. Sometimes you can find them at the local Dollar Tree. My dog take a bit of time to chew them up since they are very hard.;) Some one mentioned the KONG toys - they are the only ones my dog has not totally destroyed. I saw a chewtoy at PETCO that might be the ultimate - it is made out of a firehose. I discovered that my dog loves to chew on baby carrots. I think it helps with the teething. I hope that helps. Cheers, Shar J.R.'s mom. |
Our Gucci doesn't chew on or carry anything..... probably due to his bad teeth. |
I have just read about the toy destroyers - Molly is another one of those steel jaws Yorkies. I can't count how many toys she has ruined. I do not let her have the toy once she starts pulling out the stuffing. She just loves it when we bring home a new toy and just prances around the family room for about a half hour before we can even touch it. Then she gets busy and tears it apart. She does have very clean, healthy teeth. That is the good part! Dental expenses can be very expensive. Molly is about 18 months and not teething. MUST find a durable toy for her for Christmas. |

Stag bars Even my beau only has 2 teeth left and she adores these ,, to suck on :D one wud last her 10 life times lol |
yorkie toys my yorkie is 10 months old and shredded her toys, gutted the ones with stuffing and loves to be chased to get the stuffing from her. she loves plastic if she can get away with it but usually spits it out instead of swallowing it. I have resorted to getting her quality rawhides from the feed store and getting bones from the meat market the roundsteak bones. I bake these bones at 200 so there is no blood about one hour. these have left her less demanding in the evening hours. |
I love bullies, the only problem is that smell. But it's because are more natural. You can get them at pet store. Petco, pet smart but they are more expensive that way. I get them a costco for about $25 for 12 of those and I cut them in small sticks with a saw. You can give it to them but the are long. Dolly she loves them and it actually help her to keep clean teeth. By the way price range from $4-10 for a single one depends on the length. I hope this helps other members |
I'm so relieved to know my Sophie (5 yrs old) isn't the only one who does this! She's gotten so good at destroying her toys that she can de-fluff and de-squeak one in about 10 minutes or less - depending on the size of the toy. It's a little frustrating to watch her utterly destroy a brand new toy, but she's not a fan of Kongs or any rubber-type of toy, so I let her be since she seems to enjoy it. I think she really just likes the challenge of de-squeaking a toy. She has a look of accomplishment afterward, haha. Thankfully, she will still play with her murdered toys despite not having any innards left, so it's not a waste of money. |
Do you mind if I ask if you walk Sophie? The reason that I ask that is bc dogs get bored and find their own distractions specially small ones. Dolly is only 7 months but she goes for a walk and she loves to look at the window plus she play a lot with toys but she doesn't destroy them. You can but this blue ball for treats and peanut Butter it's about $19 but it's great for their teeth too. There are 3 different sizes the medium or small are the best size for yorkies. I put mine in the freezer with peanut butter and she loves it. I'll pick up the toy after a little while. This may help. |

Regarding the blue ball treats toy, unfortunately, she doesn't like any Kong-type toy and hates peanut butter, haha. She's such a finicky little girl! |
