Stuffing Coming out of Toys. Well it's that time, my little puppy is 4.5 months still teething and his razor sharp teeth have shredded some of his favorite toys. He REALLY loves picking the stuffing out. It's polyester so he won't eat it, but it looks like cotton. Is it OK to let him do this. He doesn't seem to be eating it, if he does eat a little, would that be OK for him or should I take away the toys that have holes in them (about half his toys). |
take away the toys. eating the stuffing could cause an obstruction. look into some stuffing free Skineez or pull all the stuffing out of his existing toys and just give him the "pelts" from what he's killed. |
For strong chewers, I stick w/stuffingless toys. I also take out the stuffing if they ripped up the toy & wash it, put the squeaker back in & sew it up again lolll I'm frugal like that. |
I'd say if he's not eating it let him rip the stuffing out. My 4 year old husky taught my 5 month old Yorkie Sampson how to de-fluff toys and they do it together! It's the cutest thing. I just throw away the stuffing once they get it out. In the end they are really only trying to get the squeaker out! just make sure he is supervised while playing with the toys just in case. Also, if you don't want to keep buying new toys... put the stuffing back in and sew them back together lol |

When I re-sew them, I use that clear very strong nylon thread (not that it makes that much difference really!!) Sally + Harry x |
All of mine did it, and will still do it if I let them. I have so many toys without the stuffing because I got tired of restuffing them and sewing them back up. There were times when I would be busy with something and within ten minuets they have the entire room covered in stuffing. Never let him chew on the stuffing, just clean it up. Restuff or toss it in the trash. |
He doesn't seem to be eating the stuffing, He will leave it all around the room like a stuffed animal murder scene from CSI. I can sew them, the only thing is I don't know how to sew haha. But I suppose I can learn |

Basic sewing is easy, you can always watch you tube videos. Have you tried buying the stuffed animals that have no stuffing? |

Buster does the same thing there are times I come into the bedroom and it looked liked it snowed in there. |
When mine rip a toy open, I toss it out. We have several of the skineez toys that don't have stuffing, and they seem to last a lot longer. |

LMAO! Too funny...love the photo...the scene of destruction! I can totally identify. Brody does the same thing...he's totally into de-stuffing and removing the squeaker. It's like a career move for him...an obsession once he gets going! I don't have any photos 'cuz I have to snatch the stuffing before he locks onto it. lol The funniest, though, was when he first came here and I gave him a shimmery kitty ball...before his ripping up and de-stuffing fetish appeared...'cuz I thought he had a lot of toys and that he would keep them along with his food, dishes, crate, etc. He didn't have any toys with him, though, and it was kind of late at night, so I gave him the big rat I had to dig out of the bottom of a big bag of kitty mice...he loves 'mousey guys' being a 'ratter' terrier...lol, a little foam ball, and a shimmery blue fuzzy ball. He ripped it apart on our bed and DH and I had 'shimmery parts' in the oddest places for months...the stuff kept re-appearing out of thin air like magic. lol The other 3 shimmery balls will probably never see the light of day...can't even give them to the kitties 'cuz in this house, "all your toys are belong to me"..signed Brody! :D |
