I am totally okay with it if someone wants to make me some and send them on out to me! :p |
Joey's breeder gave me one of these when I got Joey, and it's still one of his favorite toys. We play fetch with it and it's also great for catch, because it's soft enough that even a bad throw doesn't hurt their mouths. He's playing fetch with it in my avatar. My son's new puppy came for a visit and out of all the fancy toys we have, this is the one he loves. I use to crochet and wondered how you made these, thanks for the link. |
Here's the link directions for the gruffle balls Gruffle Balls I use regular worsted yarn for the bigger (4") balls and baby yarn for the smaller (2"-3") balls. Use the appropriate sized hook. Or whatever yarn that I can find. Chain 5 - join with slip-stitch to make a circle. Chain 3 - counts as 1st double-crochet (dc). Make as many dc as you can inside the circle - approximately 70-90, or whatever you can fit it. This first round will be all ruffly. Join to top of 1st chain 3. Chain 3 - counts as 1st dc. Put 4 dc in same stitch as the chain3. Put 4 dc in each dc on first round. Join to top of 1st chain-3 on this round. Tie off and hide ends. VOILA! GRRRRRRRRRUFFLE BALL!! |
It's been so long since I crocheted, can anyone translate that? I understand the first two sentences. Chain 5 - join with slip-stitch to make a circle. Chain 3 - counts as 1st double-crochet (dc). |

I have spent the last month crocheting baby stuff for my pregnant niece! This will be a nice change of pace. Thanks for the pattern. |
Duhhhh. I dunno how. Someone make some to sell!!!! :D I promise to buy one!! |
I just made one according to the pattern and then made one with a second row of the 4dc in each dc. Talk about alot of dc! Mine are boring in a baby blue. Now I need to find crochet patterns for puppy clothes. |

Then chain 3 onto that which counts as a dc. I can never find the top end of the chain later so I end up fudging my counts to make patterns work. Clear as mud, right? |

So you put about 12 dc in each of the 5 original chain loops? Am I making sense? |
Once you do the 5 chain, slip stitch, 3 chain....then you do as many dc into the center of the ring you formed. I think I got like 60 or 70 all squished in there. Then you slip stitch again but this time into the top of your chain 3 on this round. Then chain 3 and dc 4 times into each dc from the row you just finished. |
