Doe your dog know the names of all his/her toys? I'm wondering if this is a common trait with lots of yorkies, or if ours has a particularly huge vocabulary. Lacy must have at least a dozen toys in every room of the house. About twenty of them are her "favorites"-- pink fish, green wheel, orange wheel, blue bone, pink bone, orca, turtle, dino-croc, etc etc. She knows the names of almost every single toy, and can pick one out from a huge pile on command. It's really astounding. If you tell her to get her dino from her toy tray, she will dig around and pull it out. She even has several of the same toy in different colors, and knows the difference. If you tell her to go get something in another room, she'll run across the house and go find where she left it. So, does your dog know toy names, or is ours just crazy? |
Yeah, Riley has several that he knows.... Fox, Squirrel, Bone [which is usually whatever bone he was chewing on, last...] His Favorite "Buddy" is his snuggle puppy. He drags Buddy from his x-pen to the living room in the morning, and drags him back to his x-pen at night when he is going to bed. It Is Soooo CUTE!! |
Sammy knows the names of some of his toys. He knows his baseball (he has a football and a soccer ball toy too), he knows Lambie One ear (Lambie had two ears but someone chewed an ear off), and he knows the toy squirrel. I think he knows them because they are his favorites. |
I think Cooper know the names of most of his toys. However, when I tell him to go get something he always comes back with his tennis ball. But he knows. |

Chloe knows the names of her toys that have names, lol! Some of her toys, I'm not sure what to call them so they are just "toy". :) But she knows ball, squirrel, rabbit, flower (which is one of those Petstages brand toss rings with the little floppy tabs all around it), Kong, and a few others that escape me right now. It was mostly my husband who taught Chloe the names of each toy. He has a ton of patience! -C |
He def knows Kitty, lol, hes a big fluffy toy for Rizzo. He knows squirrel, ball, chew, and treat. Dogs can learn up to 100 words I think, so having a large vocabulary isn't suprising for the dog. |
Katie remembers and knows all of heroys names we play catch with the toys an\d then she fetches them when I ask her to find one ans brings it back - her isbox overflowing with her babies ( Toys) LOL I think they are super smart.- :aimeeyork:animal36:animal-pa |
Rhia knows what purple monkey, cow, and alligator are. :D She can pick those up if I mention them. She'll also start looking around frantically when we're walking if I say "squirrel" and starts hopping around if I mention the word CHEESE. It's her favorite. |
