Chew toys? So, we bought Sophie a nylabone (non-edible) as one of her first toys. 2 weeks later (she's now 15 weeks old), she has chewed and chewed until the ends are becoming rough and tiny, tiny pieces are coming off. I took it away once but gave it back. She loves it and just goes after it aggressively. Well, she chewed on it a while tonight and then threw up. I took it away again. Do you think this could have caused her to get sick? Anyway, are there any "safe" chew toys for my furbaby? I've heard great things about Kongs...would they be good? Any suggestions would be great! |
Oscar loves Nyla bones. He chews them until the ends are worn down and then I buy him a new one. Maybe your pup needs the durable nylabone for strong chewers. They have the flexibones which sounds like the one you have and they have durable bones which are harder. It could have caused the vomiting if a large piece came off, but basically the tiny pieces are harmless and should pass in their poop. Hopefully this helps. |
Are these good for teething puppies too? |
Kongs are excellent, nondestructible and in a variety of sizes, try the puppy size first. I did not like the nylabone because of the chipped peices from chewing. I find that the cow hooves are natural and even if chewed off, digestible. My yorkies love them. |
I did get away from the nyla bones and started using a toy called Orka. Small pieces break off too but not as bad. They have all different textures and strings which are great for tug of war. |
We ended up buying a few kong toys and I gave in and bought another new nylabone. I watch her closely with it. She loves it and she isn't as agressivley chewing it as she did the other one. I really watch her with it though. |
