DIY Tennis Ball Food Dispenser 2 Attachment(s) I just discovered this earlier tonight... sorry if hoards of people have already discovered this fun-ness, but I searched briefly and didn't find any other threads about it. So anyways.... Attachment 285629 Attachment 285630 1. Get a tennis ball 2. Either wait until your pup "kills" it or go ahead and step on it yourself (not lightly) until it POPs. Either way, the ball needs to have a split down one side. 3. Open the ball up like one of those funny little plastic change purses, and dump some kibble/carrot bits/etc. inside. This entertained Nikko for a good half hour tonight, and he only got a 5-6 kibble bits out of it, so he'll probably go back to playing with it tomorrow again too when he feels hungry and feisty. - Lauren & Nikko |
what a good idea on how to use the dead tennis balls. No I haven't heard about that. And what makes it better, I work at the athletic facility for the college here, and there are dead tennis balls everywhere for free! |
thanks for sharing! |
That is a great idea! |
I didn't know about this & like this idea - thanks for sharing! |
Hate to be a killjoy...but... is there any way they could get their little tongue stuck in there? Just thinking..Sounds like a great idea to keep them busy. |
jmdt, don't worry about being a buzzkill - I thought about that potential problem too! I tested the "mouth" of the tennis ball on my finger, and it really doesn't clamp tightly at all, especially on something as small as a puppy tongue. Try it out for yourself and make your own decision, but I don't worry about Nikko with a popped tennis ball any more than I do with any other toy. Lauren & Nikko |
Cute idea. I will have to sort through the pups' toy box. I am sure there is an old tennis ball in there somewhere. Thanks for passing this along! |

Thanks for the idea. I have some tennis balls laying around and I'm always looking for something "interactive" for my dogs. |
I got one of these for my girl and she loves it! She sits in he r dog bed all day and chews on it. :) |
Great idea! What a great idea! Thanks! |
This sounds doo-able. I have severe RA and my husbnd is Handicapped. I don't think Cooper gets much "normal" estra exercise. I have looked online to no avail... I would like one with a 15-20' tether. Any Idears??? |
