swimming! We took Lil Bit with us when we went to a state park the other day to play in the river (which was very low). I was so excited--I put him in the water with me (very shallow at the edge and only up to my knees at most points) and he waded through the water, navigated the rocks, and then, when it got deep enough, he actually swam!! It was too cute! I did notice he got tired very quickly (100 degree weather!) so I didn't keep him in the water. After awhile I put him on my floatie and pulled him around--and that was even cuter! Standing there with all 4 paws spread wide and braced, his little nose up in the air, sniffing! And, the bonus--he totally IGNORED almost all of the people! He didn't bark one time at anyone and he only tried to sniff one woman's shoes--and she had a brown lab with her! Very satisfactory day for all involved. :D |
Sounds like a great time was had by all, I haven't tried my baby in the water yet, did you get any photos I would love to see Lil Bit on floatie |
Yes, sounds like he surely enjoyed it! That is great! Nolee is scared of the water. Hopefully by the end of our vacation he will like being in the pool! |
aww it sounds like he had good time.... |
Sounds like he enjoyed the water play. I've taken Coco in the pool with me a couple times and she isn't really fond of it, I do want to get a boogie board or something for her to float on and see if she enjoys that |
Oh, how adorable :) I wish my Milly could swim, but she hates water and won't even go outside in the rain... |
I'm going to get a life vest so Johnny feels more secure. I've read that even though they do have a natural ability to swim-most dogs-they do get tired quickly. They can't stop swimming and stand up like we can when we're in a pool. |
Versace LOVES the water/swimming!! I never knew dogs could drown. But then again i'd never let any of my babies out of my sight. I guess I know what type of mom I'll be when I have skinkids. |
Delicate, I love the way you just said "skinkids"! LOL! We went to my friends to swim and as soon as I let CC off her leash, she just jumped into the pool! No questions asked, no begging and she loved loved to swim! It was so cute!!!!!! Happy fourth everyone!:D |
That is so funny!! I bet he was so adorable! |
lol..cute story were you nervous at all?? the 1st time Joey went in the lake I mostly held my breath the whole time...he's a good swimmer but I worried bout him getting too tired & sinking!!lol |
can let go !!! Sorry:( I'm so nervous on letting them in the pool. I had a gate put up, I just got miley a life vest and I'm getting one for max and than I will try it one at a time. I hope they like it, at least not run from it or get nervous. I'm afraid of the water in the pool , can they get sick if they drink it.????? bark@urlater manina, miley :aimeeyork, max :aimeeyork |
Ritzy swims all the time in the pool When we got Ritzy she was so little and fell in the pool so we taught her to go out in the pool. She knows where the stairs are and will swim all over the pool and come back to the stairs. She now runs and jumps in and swims to the stairs. She has no fear. We have to watch her closely but she understands the command "Swim Swim... go back. It was all in working with her. This year our other two Yorkies have joined in. They love it,:) |
I was a little nervous, but she jumped into the shallow end where my friends were. She swam right to them, then to the steps and would get out when she was tired....she would even sit on the top step in the water....it was so sweet!!!!!! Now she will jump in the shower w/ me! CC is such a little water dog! |
