Yorkie watches TV We've had several dogs over the years but never one who actually watched TV and responded to animals on TV. All we have to do is say 'Dog show' and she comes running, watches, and tries to bite the dogs on the runway. She watched all afternoon one day as the Eukanuba (can't spell it) show was on. Is this normal for Yorkies and not other breeds? |

I have never seen any other breed watch TV either but Tobie loves animal plant! He will just sit there and watch TV, any time he hears an animal he is right there infront of the TV! |
Sis used to watch TV all the time. Anything with 4 legs caught her attention. She didnt pay any attention to people on TV tho. |
That is hilarious you definately need a video of that. When my bf and I leave for class or something he always leaves Animal Planet on for her but I dont think she pays any attention to it. |
There is a commericial playing in our area for Dogtoberfest. It is a meet and greet for all dogs to meet in the town square. There are only dogs on it and one barks right at the beginning so Maybelline knows it is time to watch. It is the only thing that has ever caught her attention. |
I'll get a video when she recovers from patella surgery and grows some of her hair back. Right now she's kind of naked from the waist down and restricted from jumping up at the dogs she sees on TV. I don't want her to have to go through the surgery again.:( I leave Animal Planet on for her too, and I'd like to see how long it keeps her attention. I've watched with her and it seems she just has a thing for doggies, nothing for cats. She likes Australian critters and really growls at spiders. Horses get her attention, but the neighbors have horses so I think she made the connection. She still plays the 'I'm big and bad' role. |
lol my shelby rae knows the commercials with animals on them just from the music...she can be dead asleep and jumps up and runs to the end of the bed and waits for the animal to come on then she barks at it..then she sits and watches all the commercials and then when the show comes back on she goes back to bed till the next commercial...it is so cute.. |
Harley watches animal planet with me too. He will also watch tv when my hubby is watching the outdoor channel. He will just stare at the television with his head cocked to one side whenever daddy is watching a show with animal calls on it! Jeri and Harley |

I can't watch any show on Animal Planet or the Dog whisper if a dog barks. Millie starts barking straight at the dog on TV till it goes away. :) |

:D I really enjoy this picture :D Our biewers are watching tv too. They wiggle and bark if they see other animals on tv and the donīt like fight-scenes. At the first weeks our Zorro watched and then run behind the tv for looking after the animals :rolleyes:. |
My Piper loves to watch TV and my lil Mackie likes to tell the dog whisperer how to do his job by barking at him...its too funny! |

Pocket watches TV, his bed is right in front of it. He lays his head on the edge and watches it. If he see's something he likes he jumps down and barks and starts running all around the livingroom wanting them to play with him. He is so funny! I moved his bed the the back of the livingroom and it was so funny. It wasn't a minute he grabbed his bed with his teeth and tried pulling it back. I just laughed and moved it back to where it was and he jumped into it and that was it. |
Haha... my little man watches TV. It cracks me up. And I will pull up videos on youtube of other yorkies and he goes crazy!! My golden retriever watches TV also! We get her attention and she runs to the screen and watches up close with her ears up! And one time... the dog ran off screen and our golden ran behind the TV looking for the dog. I almost pee'ed my pants it was so funny!!!!! :animal36:p |
yorkies watching TV My yorkies watch TV all the time i always have the TV on for them and they just sit on the couch and watch it i guess i am so used of them watching TV i thought it was normal all my yorkies have always watched TV they actually tip there heads side to side some times when there watching it as to show how they are really listing. Mine also bark at the dogs on Animal planet and if someone knocks on the door on TV they run to my door. It's so funny. One of mine grabs the phone when it rings and brings it to me these yorkies are so smart sometimes i think they are smarter then we are. This is such an awesome breed i would never own any other kind of a dog I think mine are human because they sure don't think there dogs. Natalie |
Jackson watches TV whenever something with four legs is involved! Whenever I watch the Dog Whisperer, he just stares at the tv, I can see his ears standing straight up, lol. It's so cute. I watched Bolt with my little brother last week and he was going nuts! |
That is precious! :) Lulu will respond to dogs barking on the television or when I am watching videos here but doesn't normally just watch. |

my sisters dog coco channel and my dog bella-chewy (fattie) dont really watch tv. but when we play the wii we can see their little heads follow the cursor. we couldnt believe it at first but when we moved the wiimote their heads would follow the screen. it was really cute. we dont watch tv at the house much, so i guess when we were playing they were curious at what we were looking at. |
Genghis doesn't watch tv but if I'm watching something like "it's me or the dog" he does what victoria says but I'm not sure he knows where it's coming from. Like when she says "sit" he'll sit but then he'll look around confused. I think he knows the difference of the doorbell and 'tv doorbell" but he does perk up when there is a "tv doorbell' |
My yorkie will sit at the foot of the bed and watch TV or sit on my lap while I' at the computer and watch the screen. I have video of him watching the mouse cursor on the computer go uuuup and doooown...uuuup....and doooown... |
yorkie and TV That is so cute these yorkie's are so wonderful they are so smart i think there human at least they seem that way to me mine under stand every word i say when my mom comes over and i tell thm go see grandma they go right to her they know who she is. I wish my boys listened as well as my yorkies life would be a lot easier |

We watched Dogs 101 the other day (me and the little furball). I think she gets tired of the weird camera work sometimes and her eyes will close like she's fighting sleep. But she just laid on the couch looking like the Sphinx, watching TV. If I put a dog show on and call her 'Reesie, the dog show is on' she'll come running like the wind, yapping all the way, and plant herself in front of the TV. That's another thing I wanted to tell you, she had LP surgery Feb 24, and now she's zipping around like the wind. Her and Tinkerbelle the cat are back to playing chase the cat, chase the Yorkie again. |
