I keep several toys out for Bella, and if I don't play with her, she just does it all herself. She usually doesn't stay with the same toy, but the variety keeps her active. Her favorite toys, however, are some hand me down cat toys my mother gave her one day. Balls, vibrating bees, a sqeaking chick, etc. There's nothing really special about them, but she plays with them more than the dog toys bought especially for her. She also likes it when I pile laundry in the floor or mound a big blanket up for her. She burries all her toys and treats and then digs them back out. I guess that's her favorite game. |
Toys I Put Marbles In An Empty Water Bottle (20 Ounce) Take The Wrapper Off Smash It A Little Bit So They Can Almost Get Ahold Of It And Roll It Across The Floor, The Battle Is On...keeps All 5 Of My Yorkies Busy For A Hour Or So, I Can Do This Every Day At Least Once...make Sure The Cap Is On Tight... |
We take an empty coke bottle (2 liter, 20 oz, water bottle, they really aren't picky) and rinse it out and let it dry for an hour or so and then stick one of his bones or a couple treats in it and close the top. As long as my puppy sees me putting the bone/treat in the bottle he'll go after it for hours. It drives him crazy trying to get to the treat/bone and when he rolls it, it makes noise so it keeps him interested. You just have to be able to deal with the added noise if you don't have carpeted floors. I use the 20 oz or 2 liter bottles usually because the plastic is a lot thicker so they can't chew it into pieces. If you use a water bottle you really need to watch it. Otherwise, the bottles with thicker plastic hold up for about a week before you really need to start watching it. [EDIT] So I just saw the post above me, and we pretty much do the same thing...just with treats. Should have read all of the responses first. |

Kong Paco loves his puppy kong. I fill it with "dog fruit loops" or "dog teddy grahams" from Petco and he will roll it around for at least an hour. I put in broken pieces and whole pieces alternately so that little bits fall out to keep him interested but the bigger pieces stay in to keep him busy. It cracks me up when he whines when he almost has a piece out but not quite. When he gets too frustrated, he will bring it to me to squeeze it and crush a small piece and then he's back to it. He also loves bully sticks. |
Deegan is content with 3 things... his Everlasting treat ball, socks or a waterbottle! lol The socks and water bottle require your supervision though cause you don't want them chewing them in pieces and potentially swallowing them. So I would say the ELT ball is the best if you can't watch them. |
I don't know if I can help much either. I give Mufasa those chew bones that take FOREVER for him to knaw apart! lol He also loves to play with stuffed animals so we have them all over the house. We don't have to constantly play with him because he's either chewing on one of those bone things or humping a poor defenseless stuffed animal. ha ha ha ha |
My Lucy will play with toys by herself all day long. She has a rubber frog that has a long tongue that comes out when it squeeks. She also likes balls and toys that talk like mommy. She has a rose (Tinkerbelle's Closet) that says "I Love You" when bit. She will play with it for hours. Alyssa's favorite toy is an empty water bottle. She will chew it, sling it, chase it and be occupied with it for hours. She would really prefer a new water bottle to any doggy toy. My middle furbaby does not play with toys. If she does it is to play with Lucy. They play tug of war. |
What toy keeps my Yorkie Busy for Hours Only one thing...... My fingers when he wants to chew on them.......... |
Pepper's favorite toy is his rubber frog. When you squeeze it, it squeaks and the long red tongue unrolls. He absolutely loves this toy. |
Deiter loves ropes anything rope fleece, or the ones you buy at the pet store. But he has to have a blanket so he can play hide and seek with it. lol |
Tucker really doesn't like to play by himself for very long. He loves to play fetch for hours  He will lay and chew on a bone for hours...we just got some new ones today that are compressed and peanut butter flavored. He's been lying under my chair for about an hour going at it! |

My son bought a 2ft red and white dog for himself on Valentines Day, anyhow it is Mascot's fav fav fav toy, it is one of those toys where you push its foot and it sings. The ears on the red and white dog go up and down and mascot turns the music on and off by biting the dogs foot. It gets annoying after awhile.... it sings that song.... your love it makes me wanna shout, throw my hands up, shout...anyhow the song never gets that far. After Mascot gets a hold of its foot he turns it on and off so fast it says, your love... your ... your lo... your love it makes... your ...your ....your love, omg I could scream, but he loves it so much I just can't take it away! |
