Premium brands of dry food in UK I'm currently feeding Alfie on James Wellbeloved Puppy. Not sure if it's considered a premium brand. I moved to Scotland from Singapore and found that the premium brand dog food like Timberwolf, Solid Gold, Nature's Variety are all not available here. Wondering then, what is a good brand of puppy food for yorkies? Is Royal Canin any good? |
I use Royal Canin. Up to ten months they are on Royal Canin Mini Junior then they switch to Royal Canin Yorkshire. They do very well on it, my vet says he's never seen such perfect teeth on an elderly Yorkie as my 12 year old has. The blurb did say it was good for teeth when they launched the Yorkshire a few years ago, up till then she was heading for some dental work, scrape etc. Plus she has a lovely coat, that's her picture on my atavar. Never have any problems getting them to eat it :D James Wellbeloved is good too though. I switched some of my Cairns onto it when they developed allergic skin problems & it certainly cleared that up. |
Some good dry foods available in the UK are burns, james wellbeloved and arden grange. Good wet foods are naturediet and natures:menu. Royal canin is pretty good but there are better. However what suits one dog may not suit another so you have to find the food that agrees with your dog best. |
Thanks! Well.. i'll just leave him on James Wellbeloved for now then.. |
Moe has a very sensative tummy that causes him lots of mucus when on the wrong food, we have him on the Beta salmon and rice, I believe it's Purina brand...all i do know it's one of the very few types we have tried and get the results we need. Science diet was extremely good but got too costly. |

Oh I just thought i'd mention that you can buy orijen online in the UK through www.zooplus.co.uk. It is in my opionion THE best kibble out there. |
Thanks Lara! i'll take a look at that! ;) |
Hi - I Went On To The Website And They Sent Me Some Free Samples, That Was Really Nice Of Them.... Unfortunatly Harvey Being The Little Fuss Pot He Is Doesnt Like It - But It Was Better Than Buying A Big Bag Of Food To Be Wasted. I Feed Harvey Fresh Chicken Now And Sometimes Put In Carrots Etc, He Doesnt Eat A Great Deal Though (the Little Monkey Has Me Worried To Death At Times). He Sometimes Shares My Porridge Or Toast In A Morning.................................. I Also Free Feed Some Dried Kibble (cant Recall Which One It Was Though) And He Sometimes Picks At That. Good Luck Not Long Now Kerry - Counting The Days With You!! |

Heidi was also extremely fussy when she was young..she seemed to practically survive on nothing and still have so much energy! when she got older she would eat everything in sight..and tended to put on a bit of weight if i didn't watch her! she had a bit of a pot belly..the day before we had to have her PTS she was weighed and she came in at 6lbs..when she was younger she was more like -4-5lbs. |
