Flying to spain with a little one... As i'm planning a 'new arrival' in the next couple of months i have been thinking ahead...lol....anyways...my parents live on mainland Spain and i will be going over to see them probably next year. I haven't flown in a very long time and when i do i would like to take 'The baby' with me as no dog of mine has ever been in kennels. How do i go about getting a Pet Passport? and what would happen to 'The baby' on the plane? would she be able to travel in the cabin with me or would she be put in the hold of the aircraft?(which worries me) Just wondering if any of you experienced travellers could enlighten me as i am a bit naive in world travel especially with a 'baby' in tow! I have just bought a carrier from ebay and it says that most airlines approve it...(Faux Croc style). By the way....It is FAR TOO quiet on the European forum!!! COME ON UK MEMBERS WHERE ARE YOU ALL??? I'm starting to get lonely here all by myself.....:( |
Hi Kezza, I hope this post isn't too late... This best place is to check out the PETS scheme, this explains all the steps you need to take if you're travelling with your doggy from or to the UK. It's got all the basic rules for travel within the EU... Good Luck! |
No its not too late! I'm spending far too much time lurking around on here! Thanks so much for the info..i'll look into that!:) |
No problem! Enjoy your holiday!!! I used this site to plan my trip to the UK, as I have family and friends there but live in Switzerland. It's really the best site full of info. These days travelling is so easy with little dogs. Just make sure you call the airline you're flying with well in advance to let them know you want to carry your doggy with you. There are restrictions on the number of pets allowed as carry on on any given flight. Looking forward to holiday snaps! |

Me an my husband are at Ramstein. We went to oklahoma to visit we took our little girl with us. They can go on the plane with you as long as the carrier with her in it weighs under 9 lbs. They didn't give us any problems we had to stops in Germany an no problems at all. Make sure you have all of her paper work. |
I live in Spain and please be careful of you baby because the heat here at the moment is very intense if she isnt used to the hot weather it can be very dangerous |
I'm not positive, but I think if the carrier is under a certain size they can sit with you. As hot as it is now I'd never let a dog be put in the belly of a noisy, hot plane. |
I think the hold would actually be temperature controlled anyway. I have seen a dog travel to spain, it was in the hold, and when we got off the plane it was left near the little rotary things where you get your luggage unsupervised, left for the owner to come and get him! Anyone could have robbed the poor mite, lucky it was a big dog that looked a bit fierce :animal36 |
