how on earth can we get more uk (and specifically ni) members!?!

(and a wee rant!)
how would one go about getting more people to join up? because breed specific forums seem to be more popular in the US compared to here- then again so are breed clubs!
i just did Another search to see if anyone from ni had joined recently, and 9/10 of all ni members havn't even made one post! and i think only 3 or something have joined since me!
so how could this AWESOME site be promoted more within the uk, because as much as i love all the current members, i'd love more people who know what yorkies are like Here!
any ideas?!?

I noticed that you haven't gotten any ideas so I thought I'd share mine. Hope you don't mind, I don't live in Europe, in fact I live across the "big pond". What I have done for several years now is to keep a supply of "Official" YorkieTalk Business Cards in my purse. Here is the link http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...hare-them.html . You can can print them yourself and add your YT User ID so that when you meet someone and strike up a conversation about Yorkies, you can hand them a card. You can even print them out on plain paper and cut them out in pretty shapes to save some $$.

Anytime I have the opportunity to start a conversation with complete strangers about Yorkies -- like in a pet supply store -- I always hand out a card -- I am amazed at how many people I have given a card to have joined.

^^ Agreed!

Most people find YT when they are searching for information about a Yorkie, either they want to add one to their family, have a training or health problem to ask about, or just want to talk about their Yorkie.

If you want more people from a certain location to join, you need to be proactive about getting out there and advertising to that group. So print out some cards and get busy! Good Luck.

Also, you can talk to local vets and see if you can leave some cards. And perhaps at pet boutiques. Be creative and original.

The problem is, not many people have to search to find a puppy- go on to gumtree any day and at least 3-4 puppy mills will have cheap yorkies available from 5 weeks up! Yet another reason I want people to join here before supporting a mill!!
I have always mentioned here in conversation, but by the time they got home, they have forgotten about it, so no new members :(
But once poppet has got her shots at 12 weeks, I imagine she'll be as much of a magnet for yorkie lovers as her auntie and momma are!! :D
So, vets, Groomers, pet shops, the supermarket bulletin boards!, might even leave a few with the dog warden at the local shelters!
That'll keep me busy for a while!!! Lol
So com'on uk- get recruiting!!! :D :D

There are quite a lot of UK members on here .The Europe site is very slow so most of us migrate to the main site where more is happening.To be honest I keep forgetting this site is here.I compromise and belong to a English Yorkie Rescue site as well Lots of friendly people on the forums plus raise money for needy yorkies:thumbup:

Good morning!

I'm sorry to disappoint you as I'm not from NI, but from Surrey:). I've been learning from Yorkie Talk for months now, but only joined the other day. What a wealth of information I've learned! I've always had dogs but never a Yorkie before (smallest previously was a schnauzer). They all have such diverse characters don't they?!! Harry's 10 months old and 12lbs so quite a big boy (so far!!). Really look forward to hearing from you all, and I'm trying to 'spread the word'!! Sally + Harry x

i have 5 yorkies (and 2 mixes) and they are all sooo different in their personalities- or should that be doggyalities?!
i think we'll need pictures of harry!! :D

Not from NI but from the UK, I've just joined and found this site by googling for info on grooming Yorkies. I found a lot of American sites came up early on google and not many UK ones; are there many? I'm surprised there aren't more UK members here, but I just need Yorkie info and have no preference which country it comes from :)

I think it's true that there are a lot more UK members on YT than regularly drift over to this part.
Must admit I'm a bit guilty of that myself.
