Food Can anyone help me with some advice. My little Amy who is now 19 months old, has suddenly decided she does not like dried Burns Dog Food after I bought her some mini bonios (she had not tried these before) as treats and now she ignores her kibble and will only eat the biscuits or cooked chicken. I have tried all ways to entice her including putting chicken stock on the kibble but no luck. I wonder if eating these biscuits (she only has 2 a day) is good for her in the respect what do they contain, are they nutritious. I am also considering putting her onto tinned dog food, which I think she would probably enjoy. Can anybody help? Regards Topsy |
I find my two yorkies like Cesear tinned food as a treat or even Pedigree small dog food in jelly or gravy and I given them these as a change from dried food and they will then go back to their dried food with no problem. I usually give dried food for one meal and wet food for one meal eat day. These food are available at all supermarkets so are no problem to obtain. |
If ou can get any orijen, mine used to like that as a treat - it's pricey but a really good food and very high meat content so i found she preferred it to burns. At day care, she gets James well beloved pouch and orijen as a treat. Also nature's diet for variety. Not sure what's in bonios, i give varied treats so that they seem like treats...oh and dentastix everyday... |
I bought her some Royal Canin today and she wolfed it down, I have not seen her eat anything with such enthusiasm before, I was so relieved because I really wanted her to eat one of the premium dried foods. Hope this keeps up. Thanks for you thoughts and input. Topsy:) |
One of mine is like yours, very choosy! If she can choose she'll eat just cooked chicken & the small gravy bone biscuits. She used to eat Royal Canin Yorkshire but I'm wondering if they've changed it again as all mine have suddenly stopped eating it. The one she really will not eat is the one the vet prescribed for her (she has IBS) Hill's Science Plan W/H. One has James Wellbeloved as he has allergies, the others were on the Yorkshire till they've gone off it, but they will eat the James Wellbeloved & also Royal Canin Mini Adult. But the one food they will pinch & eat, that they're not supposed to, is the big dog kibble I buy from my local animal feed merchant for my Skyes! Cesear gives all my lot bad diarrhea |
