~Thanks, ordered a catalogue. I was going to order something for detangling but was quite bewildered and thought would wait for the catalogue. I also wanted something to hold his hairs in place whilst his topknot grows. If you want to make suggestions please do. Which bands are best for top knots? |
Also, Hedley doesnt like the pin brush! He has a few little mats around the thigh area, Im working on it. But as we have had to stop his treats because of digestion problems its not easy to reward him. |
I get the 1/4 inch medium weight bands. xx Meggie |
Right, I have slicker brush, pin brush, pure bristle brushes, comb, grooming spray etc but the dog is just like a complete ferret to groom! I cant get much done each time as he cant have many treats. |
He's only young so is bound to wriggle. Just have patience, do it regularly & gently with lots of praise. I never give mine treats for being groomed, just lots of praise & talk to them all the time. It's easier if you have one particular place they can associate with being groomed. I have a grooming table but anywhere will do. They come to associate being there with being groomed & praised for it. Don't think you have to get every single knot out at first. It's better to do it little & often so they get used to grooming being a pleasant thing & not something they dread because it hurts. Don't try to brush a dry coat, spray it with something first. I like Ice on Ice but even a little conditioner mixed with water in a spray bottle will do. xx Meggie |
One or two little mats are forming round his back leg area, its the black bits of the puppy coat if you know what I mean! I got a little out today but will keep trying. I put him on the table, but its just occurred to me that the baby changing table would be ideal. |
