is too expensive bring a yorkie from europe to USA?
 

I will travel to europe on August. I was thinking to buy my new puppy in madrid. it is too complicated bring a puppy from europe to US. Any exellent breeder in madrid?????????????? please this information will be really helpful

What length of flight are you thinking? It's quite stressful for them when they are young to fly a long way. When I travelled from Amsterdam to South Africa, I was not allowed to see Tink the whole time, she had to be examined by vets etc at landing airports. She was almost 3 years old, though, not a baby. I woulnd't do the same again unless I could break the journey into small parts.

Why would you want to do that? Doesn’t USA have puppies here? Even check out YT. They can’t travel until they are older. Need shots have to have their rabies etc. Are you planning on staying in Madrid for six months.

hehehehe. There are many puppies in USA and I bought two here. My Keyla and my MAUI. I have family in Spain and I know that yorkies are from england, and I'm looking for my third yorkie( show purpose). I was thinking that maybe there I will find what I want. I will be in Spain for 1 month.
I don't look for a puppy. It has to be a perfect dog to show purpose. My return to USA will be Madrid to NY six hours and then I have to wait 3 hours and take a connection from Ny to VA that is two hours. The dog will travel with me all the time.

Its not hard at all actually!

I live in Germany and brought my Bella back home to visit in February when she was about 5-6 months old.

We're military so it was a little bit easier for me however it shouldn't be that difficult.

You should also refer to the airline you are using. The U.S. doesn't require a health certificate but certain airlines do!

If you get a smaller dog I would recommend bringing it on the plane with you. I believe its around 150 one way depending on the airline, but its roughly the same price to put them underneath and at least this way they are with you and you can make sure they are safe.

I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Delta if you can. Sherpa makes a bag that is specifically approved by Delta and even has the logo on it so if they try and say anything to you about the size you can just point it out.

Our flight total was about 12 hours which was a bit long and unfortunately I had to give my dog a sedative but after it wore out she was fine.

Also beware, that depending on the time of year, certain carriers will not take pets underneath the plane due to the temperature... even though the subterfuge is climate controlled.
