If you are looking for a smaller yorkie, make sure to get him from a good breeder.

And please forget about the shipping from the states idea... Such a long trip for a tiny puppy!!!

yeah.. looks like teacup is a forbidden word here.. however everybody use it... breeders, lovers, in all world..
I met a few breeders in the past that didn't agree with the Teacup word just because they had only big yorkies.
The fact is the word exist and it is used ... I think it might take some time for everybody to get use to it as in the other countries.

Got my TEACUP puppy 4 days ago... a long time waiting.. 2 months of pure naughtiness... so cute and tiny... my little Teddy Bear.. :woof:

The breeder wasn't specialized on Teacup Yorkies but got one from a litter of a tiny dad.. I was almost buying one from Portugal.. there they have loads of cute Teacups.. but would be really expensive and a long long time waiting.

he's really healthy and most important thing..any health problem with him and she gives me another one straight away... hard to find a breeder that gives you that... :rolleyes:

Yes the word does exist but not everybody uses it at all like you think they do. On YorkieTalk it is liable to put a lot of people's backs up so you might want to refer to your little one as your small or tiny or your just by her weigh. Trust me, it will save you countless times of reading that there is no such thing as a Teacup Yorkie and telling you its a term used by irresponsible breeders out to make more money. Just some friendly advice. ;)

Well done on finding you new baby. Actually, most breeders will offer a replacement pup if the one you have has an health problem.

I must say, I was a little upset, to read that a "replacement puppy", could be had if the one you bought had health problems.

I'd not swap Max or Sam, no matter what their health costs were. They are part of our family.

A Reputable, Experienced breeder wouldn't usually let a TINY go before 12 weeks of age...Pixie's breeder wouldn't let her go until she was 14 weeks because she was so little..:thumbup:

I hope your little one stays in good health..don't forget there are experienced yorkie owners here if you are ever concerned about your little one..;)

Hello and a big congratulations on getting your new little darling, i too have a small yorkie - Harvey, who is just 3 yrs old and he is just on 3.5 lbs. I am very fortunate that he is healthy and though at times has been a worry to me, with regards to his eating - or shall i say lack of eating. I was looking for a long time before i found him, eventually through a friend of my daughter's - just by chance. I did really want a small dog, my last yorkie who i loved and adored, was about 10lb, and we lost him at 14yrs old. He was just as special to us as Harvey is now, in his own unique little way.

I do understand how some breeders try to charge more for the small ones and advertise them as 'Teacups', which is wrong in my opinion. But i really cant see what the problem is with the labels 'Teacup - Teapot', to me it is just a discription of size - thats all.

Regarding the 8 weeks and leaving mum - i think in UK that is pretty much the norm, i have always taken my dogs home at that age, and my last 2 have been yorkies.

Anyway, good luck and enjoy every moment, it goes by too quickly.

My puppy is gone
 
Hi everyone.

My puppy died last sunday from Parvo

it looks like the vaccine contaminated him... and as I took him 2 days after the vaccine it was too early to see anything...

the breeder is gonna replace the dog and pay the £200 bill from the vet.. but we are so heart broken that we don't want another puppy now... we want to wait at least 3 months now... and decide... (i would rather have the money back but for the breeder this is not an option...only another puppy)

what I am concerned now is what to do here at home.. what to do to have a virus free home for a future puppy???
we are waiting for a call from the vet to tell us what to do but if anyone can help, please..

You MUST clean, clean, clean with Bleach.
Parvo can live on surfaces for awhile :( (inside and outside)

...I am soooooooooooooo SORRY for your loss :(

I am so sorry to hear this.. you must ask yourself.. did you have this puppy longer then the two weeks.. for if not.. the puppy was exposed to parvo before you got him..
I would make sure baby is at least 12 weeks old... I would make sure puppies are up to date on shots.. at 12 weeks puppie should have all all parvo shots or possibly only need one more.. buying anything less is not right..
As for small.. just keep in mind that even a healthy small puppy if sick has less chance of survival.. for they cannot afford to be sick nor lose weight..


Again I am sorry this happened to you..health tho should come before size..
