Damaged windpipe Tino has got a damaged windpipe from wearing a coller and lead, he started having fits today when out in the park and couldn`t breath, i took time to the vets right away and she wanted to keep him in for his opp tommrrow but all he did was scream tte vets down so i have brought home and got to take him back tom morning, i`m worried as anyone who has dogs will know. I have left this message for all the dog oners that have smaller dogs so not use a coller and lead but to use a harness. xx |
Oh Michelle, I'm so very, very sorry. How worried you must be. I'll be thinking of you & little Tino tomorrow & hoping all goes well for him. Let us know when you have news won't you. xx Meggie |
Thank you so much honey, he looks so ill and keeps crying xx |
Oh Chelle! I'm so sorry to hear this! I will be thinking of you & Tino..keep us updated on his progress. |
Sorry to hear about Tino it sounds like a traechea problem which is aggravated by the collar and lead but is really hereditary. Has the vet said that is definately the problem or could it be a neck problem like a disc in the neck if so the vet could prescribe a pain killer and rest and that would help. My oldest yorkie suffers with the same problem but since I have stopped showing him and he only goes out on a harness we have had no further problem and that was 2 years ago. Check with the vet before you do anything drastic. Hope all goes well anyway. |
I'm so sorry you and Tino are going through this. I hope he has calmed down and the vet will be able to help him. |
Hi tino is home and he has got traechea, the vet has given him PREDNICARE to help with the apin and i have to take him back next friday for a check up. He`s really tired and when i leave the room he trys following me and falls over BLESS HIM. |
Poor little darling .... .. I do hope little Tino makes a quick recovery from this ordeal. Lots of TLC I guess to help the process along! Keep posting to let us know how he's getting on. My two little darling puppies pull furiously when we are out walking despite my best efforts to keep them calm. They get ever so excited when we get ready for walking, so now I will have to be twice as vigilant to avoid them injuring themselves. |
1 Attachment(s) Hi there....I am sorry to hear of your poor dog's pain...my first Yorkie Tara is 8 now and is a tiny at 4lbs. She has a collapsed trachea, and at 1 year, the vet said it was really bad and she wouldn't see 4 years...she is absolutely fine...she lives a nice life and I don't stress her out or walk her too far...though she can fairly run on a beach, lol....but as long as you get the treatment to settle the injury and keep her quiet after that...no stress or excitement, and if she has a coughing fit, then gently hold down her snout and massage her neck...this opens the windpipe, and stops the coughing...then your dog can go on for years ! Tara is the proof. Good luck ...here's hoping they can reduce the swelling;) Debra x x x x |
Aww! poor love I hope he's soon better. Both of mine have harnesses, they love them. Hugs Shirl x x |
Sorry to hear about Tino I thought it sounded like a trachea problem but do not panic it will get better He is probably tired due to the medication and that is why he is falling about is there any way you can crate him to make him have enforced rest because that is what he needs. As i said my eldest yorkie has the same problem but we have had no trouble now for over 2 years due to me walking him on a harness and refusing to show him in case someone else is rough with him. Be careful how you pick him up and when you carry him make sure you support his legs with the other hand otherwise it puts a strain on the throat. I am sure he will be well in a few days. |
