Puppy food Max seems to have a sensitive tummy, and I've noticed that he does not do too well with chicken or rabbit. He's on Hill's Scientific lamb and rice at the moment, but mostly I have to add a little wet food to it. He doesn't like it on its own. I have tried him with Bakers but he doesn't seem well after it. I've also tried cooking mince for him. Is there a good all round food that anyone can recommend, that is dry like scientific? I'd like to persevere with the dry food, because this is best for his teeth. |
I have been feeding Canidae All Life Stages to all my kids with the exception of pregnant and nursing moms and young pups (5 months and under) for the past 2+ years with Fantatic results. Here is a link to their homepage: All Natural, Human Grade, Holistic Pet Foods. Dog Food, Cat Food, Kitten Food, Dog Biscuits, & Canidae Platinum Diet Good luck! |
I second Canidae. Loki had all sorts of tummy troubles as a puppy until we found Canidae! There is now a Lamb & Rice formula I believe. ALS has chicken & lamb. It may not be the chicken he's allergic to. Just try the Canidae. Call them - they will send you samples!!! Also, just so you know, high quality canned food is fine for their teeth. It's the sugar/junk in all the low-quality canned that is bad for them. Most of us on here brush our Yorkies' teeth. That will help the most! We use mint Petzlife toothpaste. |
I've tried looking for that food online, in the UK but I can't see it at all. |
Sorry, I meant to add that I can get my fingers in Max's mouth, but nothing foreign. |
Petzlife makes a spray too. And the gel doesn't have to be brushed on it can just be wiped on the teeth. It's better than nothing! I didn't realize you were not in the US. You can only get it in the US and Canada. What are your other choices there? |
There is James Wellbeloved, Pedigree Chum, Butchers,Eukanuba,Burns Pet Nutrition, and various others, not so well known, such own brands. |
have you tried Royal Canin yorkshire terrier food as that is specifically made for yorkies. I use it with my two and they are fine on it you can check Royal canin's website and if you contact them they will be glad to send you some samples. |
Thank you, I'll have a look at their site. Max is bothered with dry skin, so I think it must be his diet. |
I've been to their site and requested a free sample. Thank you, I couldn't remember the name of that product. |
Sorry, I can't remember how old Max is. Mine have Royal Canin Yorkshire & do well on it but you can only feed it to them once they are 10 months old. When they were puppies mine were on Royal Canin Mini Junior. If he's having problems with allergies & you want to cook something, my vet says turkey is far better than chicken & recommends mixing it with potato rather than rice. |
i make mine own I cook either chicken or hamburg add rice and mix veg. and then food proceesser it and then freeze in containers an donce a week get box out of the freezer.:animal36 |
Hi,I feed royal canin yorkshire terrier.I buy it online and it is delivered to my door.:D |
i'm wondering if buying the Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier is going to be a waste of time/money...fussy little Pixie is now refusing to eat the RC Mini Junior.. |
I just went out today and bought some pouches of Natures Menu, 60% real meat and vegetables..I already buy their little bags of 95% real meat treats which Pixie loves..I would also like to give their raw food a try..you just keep the bags of nuggets in the freezer and thaw when required..just need to find a local stockist...might ask at the shop where i bought the pouches today and see if they can get them for me. i'll let you know how Pixie gets on with this brand. I also leave a bowl of James Wellbeloved kibble down all day for her to snack on. |
