Food I am just wondering what other Canadian's are feeding their Yorkies? I am currently feeding Royal Canin because that is what the breeder had been giving my puppy. I have gotten lots of suggestions; unfortunately many of the foods suggested are not available in Canada. What are some good all natural food available her in Canada? Preferably in Ontario? Thanks in advance! :) |
Helloooo??? |
hey. Layla is homefed, but before i started cooking for her she was eating Fromms... EXCELLENT food and she still has access to it during the day. |
Lol! Sorry, but I wanted to make a run to the pet depot! I'll check out Fromm's. Thanks...:) |

I looked on the internet and found several places in Mississauga that carry Fromm's. It looks very good, actually. I'll run out and buy a bag today. |
My 2 larger dogs were eating Performatin by Pet Valu, when I got Mocha. He came with a bag of Royal Canin but seemed to prefer the Performatin so that's what he eats now. |
Acana is another good Canadian dog food |
I went out and bought a bag of Fromm's last night at Ryan's Global Pet Food. Jin-ju seemed to like it. I mixed with some of the leftover RC. I noticed her #2's have gotten smaller and less frequent. (3 times a day opposed to 4-5 times a day) which is GREAT!!! I think I'll stick to this one. Ryan's had a big selection of premium quality dog food for such a small store.for I think I'll be shopping there for most of my pet stuff. BTW, anyone ever been to Ren's Pet Depot in Oakville? |
Im feeding spencer science diet small bites, because when I got him from the breeder she was feeding him that so I just stuck with it and he seems to like it |
Global Pet Foods is great for carrying high quality foods....they also carry lesser quality foods...so do your homework. Tia is now eating Canidae and she's doing really well on it :) |
I'll only be purchasing the food that Jin-Ju is eating from Global since it is so close to my home. |
After the food scare I started feeding Bunny 'Riplees Ranch" which is all natural and made in Canada. The bonus is that it is delivered directly to our door. It's reasonably priced and she loves the little biscuits as well.:) :) :) |
We feed Ziggy Canidae-we can only get it at two stores around here. we are very satisfied with the quality of the food. A bag for costs $12.99 and lasts for six-eight weeks (he eats 1/3 cup, 2x a day). Most of the Pet store chains don't carry this food. Charlene |
I feed Orijen. It's an all natural, wholesome ingredients food that is made and packaged in Canada. You can only find it at high-end dog boutiques, I think. I get mine at Bark & Fitz. For wet, I used to feed her Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul but it got recalled (luckily she had only eaten 1 can & a bit of the second one - not a big eater) so we started feeding Merrick's wet. It's a 5-star food from what I've read. She seems to like it, but not as much as the Chk Soup. I leave her dry food out 24/7 & give her about a tablespoon of wet food throughout the day. If we're lucky she eats 1/4 cup combined per day, but usually it's much less. |
I was feeding Jinju Orijen too, but people told me the protein content was too high for a liitle puppy. So I switched her over to Fromm's. She's okay with it, but she definitely like Orijen a lot better. I am so darned confused... |
I feed Raja with Natural Balance Potato & Duck Dry Formula :) |

Chloe's just under 2lbs and she's doing well with it. Granted, she only eats 2 Tbsp or so daily... She LOVES Orijen, though...gulps the little bit that she eats right down. |
[QUOTE=PuppyLovinNurse;1178869]Were you feeding the puppy formula? Chloe's just under 2lbs and she's doing well with it. Granted, she only eats 2 Tbsp or so daily... She LOVES Orijen, though...gulps the little bit that she eats right down.[/QUOTE Yes, I was feeding the puppy formula. Jinju is only 3 and a half mths old. She definitely loved it, but after hearing ppl tell me too much protein was not good for her, I stopped. There is too much debate about the whole food (high protein yay/nay) issue, so I figured I wasn't going to take any chances. But I have heard of others who are doing well on a high protein diet for their dogs. I would love to hear from those who have been feeding their dogs a HP diet for some time and tell me how their dogs did... |
