Mats in hair Please , anyone have any advice on getting out matts? I dont really want to shave him. Chase WONT stay out of pool, which is great but the mats are awful. I dont want to hurt by pulling while brushing, and i cant take him to groomer every other day. :aimeeyork |
try putting a little baby oil in his hair. That's what I use for easy combing. I usually apply more, then brush, then bathe. |
Are you you using conditioner on him? a detangling spray? I have one of these for tough matts. It cuts through the matt. You need to be careful not to hurt your dog when using this. Hi. I have always used conditioner, right now I am trying detangler spray. The mats are due to him NOT staying out of pool and drying before I got out from swimming. He matted up a bit, then my 12 yr old let him in pool second time that day. Chase loves swimming, the mats didnt agree. lol |
Hi there, Just a thought, but you might consider getting Chase a summer cut until the swimming pool is shut down, and then maybe let it grow out for the winter. You wouldn't necessarily need to shave him - just maybe get him a shorter cut. Best wishes. |
hi there :) . I realize NOW that i should of, could of, and didnt lol. he was just sooo cute and still very young for his first 2 grooming visits. I was and am still getting him used to being groomed a bit at home. Next year i know what to do to prevent the darn mats. But for now, I still amworking on getting them out. getting ready to bathe him and try my leave in conditioner. Thanks for the advice. |
