Good morning Jonnie! Quote:
Don't be too discouraged about your new purchase. I think that if she is healthy, you have probably paid a fair price. Have you had Gypsy to the vet for an exam? Make sure she is healthy!!... as far as the size, let me tell you about my two.... I have 2 very sweet little Yorkies. They both were about 3-4 lbs at 16 weeks old. Now they are about 8 lbs ( 1 lb over the AKC standard). 8 pounds is still VERY little IMO! :) By feeding them a good healthy diet, keeping them groomed & clean, I have gotten 2 of the best little buddies! They are healthy (no probs due to them being too small or frail) and just the greatest little dogs. Please read more of the threads on YT. You will find that there is really good info on the Yorkie breed on this site. Many of us have Yorkies that tip the high end of the standard, as far as size. Some actually tip it over!!!.... but one thing about us who have "teapots".... we love them uncondtionally!!! Good luck with your little Gypsy! :aimeeyork If you can, post some pics of her!! We would love to see her! |
First of all I would like to say :welcome4: to YT!! You will totally fall in love with your furbaby as it grows up. Y T is a great place to find answers to all your questions. We look forward to seeing your little one!:D |
Hi and welcome to yt:) I just got a new baby for my aunt and all though she is very tiny 1.5 oz at 12 wks , the breeder did not say teacup when i talked with her, she used the word tiny, you just never know how big they will get, my 4 range from 3lbs to 7pds:) you will love your baby no matter what the size, it just stinks that peole use that word for money:( enjoy your baby and please post some pics:D :D |
u sire agree with you. my breeder saidmcdreamy wouldnt get any more than 2 lbs, if that. i got him at 5 months old, (hes 7 months old now) and weighed 1 lb. 6 oz. at 7 months old, now, he weighs in at 2 lbs. however, the vet does have a pretty good idea in terms of SIZE (not weight) of what will happen. she says his SIZE (frame) will not get any larger, and i believe that. but he could gain a few more ounces. he's 7 inches long, and about 6 inches tall. he is darling... |
I agree. 4.4 lbs @4 mos is not considered tiny. Simba is almost 6 mos @2.25lbs. Good luck with your yorkie search and welcome to YT! |
