Well, the forecast says scattered showers until 8:00am with afternoon sun. Hopefully, it will end, and we can continue as planned.

I am going to prepare and plan to go as if the rain will be done by then.

Misty, I just checked the weather forecast online, and it says there is still a 40% chance of rain until this afternoon.:( What should we do? I think the grass in the park will be very muddy, even if it does not rain more. What do you think?

I don't think the grass will be muddy. The grass there is pretty dense, and on a slight incline, so I think any rain would run down into the pond rather than sit and soak. Also, in this area, it did not rain very hard. We only got a light sprinkle for a few hours in the night.

There are also covered patio areas, though they may be reserved. If not, we could certainly move under one. But I don't think its going to be bad.

I plan to still go.:thumbup:

Ok Misty - If you're still going, we will too, but I agree that the grass may be muddy (I know it POURED here ALL evening AND overnight, and we even lost power to the house (although it's up again now))!!! So...I think the idea of the covered patio area is a good one, although, like you said, they could be reserved. We'll go to Albertsons and get our snacks as planned, and we'll see you there though.

Lauren - Maybe you should give Meg a call, just to make sure she knows we're still meeting. I'm really hoping to meet she, Tim, and Avery!

Ronda - I hope you and Teddi can still make it!!

Argh! I just got out the shower and the clouds are back full force - really black out here, like it's going to start raining any minute.:( Lisa, I called Meg earlier today and left her a message, but have not heard back from her yet.
My thoughts are that there is a very real possibility the rain will return by lunchtime. Is there any way we can do this tomorrow instead, when the weather forecast looks much brighter?

It's still blue and sunny here with patches of clouds. My aunt in Chino Hills said it's totally clearing up and does not look like its going to rain again. She said the streets are completely dry. I'm still going. I hope to see some of you there! :)

And where did all this rain come from?? I had no idea it was going to rain...came out of a restaurant last nite and it was pouring!! We were soaked...did not expect it.

The park was really nice and pretty dry. There were a few places where it was muddy, but there were several places I found that were very dry--large enough to set up a few attached xpens.

Since we pretty much knew no one else was going to show up, Chloe and my son and I went at 1:00 and stayed until a little after 2:00pm and had a picnic. It was pretty lonely and boring to be all alone, so we left after a short while. :(

I kind of get the impression that it comes down to not wanting to meet anywhere but in the Orange County area. Especially now that I see that the meetup location has been changed to Yorba park. I'm sorry if this sounds petty or whiny, but I'd be lying if I said my feelings weren't hurt by basically being told by a couple of people that they didn't believe me when I said it wasn't raining here.

Misty, I am sooooo sorry you were hurt. The only reason we made it at the Yorba Park tomorrow, was because we thought you could not make it, and were not sure if anyone else could. If you could make it tomorrow, I would be happy to do it at the Chino Hills Park; from the pictures it looks so pretty. (It is actually a shorter distance from me than the Park Bench Cafe we went to in July).
I am so upset about today; there was another factor that was totally unexpected regarding Jack's Dad. There was a possibility this afternoon, that he might have had to have a medical procedure done. (It has now been rescheduled for some time next week, as they have to stabilize his condition first) This was all so unexpected. He had gone in for tests yesterday afternoon, and the family was not expecting this outcome. So this was another factor, together with the rain, that made me decide to stay home.
Once again, I am so terribly sorry you were hurt; that is the last thing I would ever have intended. You are a MOST valued member of this group, and I cannot imagine future meetups without you and Chloe there. Please reconsider.

Im sorry you were the only one at the meet up. Chloe looked cute in her dress and the park is very pretty...maybe next time the weather will be better.

Misty - I'm so sorry you feel that way. It has nothing to do with not wanting to make the drive. Matt and I just got home after driving around since 10:00 this morning (I had all the meet-up stuff with me in preparation to go), so driving is definitely not a problem for us. Actually, according to Mapquest, the Chino Hills park is only 1.5 miles farther from my house than the Yorba park, so it really makes no difference to me which one I drive to. And if driving was a problem, we wouldn't have attended the meet-up in Huntington Beach in July! As Lauren said, the reason we discussed changing the meet-up to Yorba tomorrow is because it looked like it was just going to be the 2 of us since you had already told me you couldn't go tomorrow, she couldn't get ahold of Meg and Ronda, and I know Yorba is a little closer for Lauren. I actually told Lauren that we should have it at Chino Hills if it meant more people could come (which may be the case since Ronda said she could come if we have it at Chino Hills tomorrow), and Lauren agreed that was no problem, because we'd rather have more people there.

As for not believing you that it wasn't raining there, that's not the case at all. It's not that I didn't believe you that it wasn't raining there at the time we talked on the phone this morning, but even the meteorologists often don't know when/if it's going to rain, so all we have to go on is what the current conditions are and what the likely forecast is. Given that yesterday it poured all evening and night with only a 20% chance of rain for yesterday, then the fact that it rained here this morning at about 11:00, and the fact that it gave a 40% chance of rain for today in Chino Hills was reason enough to believe that we may get wet. I'm sorry if we were wrong and that ultimately did not happen, but personally, I cannot predict the future. Also, I just gave Sukoshi a bath, and I really didn't want her dodging mud puddles in an attempt to have fun! I'm so sorry you feel this was an effort to not believe you when you said it wasn't CURRENTLY raining.

The likelihood in SoCal is that once it starts raining, it moves EAST, and it hits us all. Maybe you didn't get hit like the rest of us last night, but if you had all the rain and lightening that it sounds like Ronda, Lauren, and I all got (like I said in an earlier post, it even woke me up and knocked out our electricity at 4:00 in the morning), then maybe you would better understand where we're coming from. I'm sorry you and Chloe were by yourself today, but I did give you advance notice that Lauren and I weren't going to risk the rain and were going to meet tomorrow instead. It sounds like you and your son had a nice day at the park though, so it wasn't a wasted trip.

Ronda - Since you are still able to come tomorrow, let's do it at Chino Hills as originally planned. The only reason Lauren and I mentioned moving it is because we thought it was just going to be the two of us, and the two parks are equal from me and Yorba is a little closer for Lauren, so it just made sense to go with the one that was a little closer. Since you and Teddi will still be able to join us (YAY :D), we'll just plan to see you at Chino Hills tomorrow at 1:30!!! Sukoshi's so excited!!!!

Oh...and as for where all this rain came from...I KNOW!!! Matt and I are asking the same thing! He drove is 350Z yesterday which NEVER sees rain, and he was so pi**ed that his baby got wet! There was only a 20% chance of rain, so we weren't expecting it to actually happen. Guess it proved us wrong!
