Anyone up in the desert?
 

Is ther anyone who lives up in the high desert? Considering the traffic, I can't possibly be the only one up here!:D

92345 for me!! And you're right about the traffic! I was born up here nd remember the good ol' days when you couldn't drive down the street and NOT see someone you knew!

You have 7? Holy smokes! Do you breed them, or are you just independently wealthy?

Not independently wealthy, just broke!! But yes, I do breed them. I breed them, sell them, babysit them, spoil them etc. Can't imagine my life without them.

I can't imagine my life without my Latte. I have a freind at school who's intersted in getting a Yorkie. I'll talk to her about the local breeders! I found my baby in the paper in Adelanto.

You might refer her to www.petfinder.com and have her do an internet search for Yorkie rescues in CA. We have many Yorkies in rescues waiting for homes. :)

Hi! So glad I found Yorkie lovers! I'm between Lancaster/Palmdale and Edwards,CA. After having my first Yorkie, "Baby" for 16 years, I found I can't live without them. My first girl I bought as a young adult. I just purchased my first puppy Miss Tuddi, she's 31/2 months. Housetrained in only 4 days! good girl!! Eating the house down!

Lancaster Event
 

Hi, I'm in Lancaster, and have two yorkies myself.

You all might be interested in an event coming up on October 6th, at the Lancaster City Park, called the Bark at the Park. I've been to a number of dog events in Southern California, and this is by far the best! (Of course, I may be just a little prejudiced since I'm on the planning committee for this. ;) ) There are several activities, including a live Auction, Raffles, Games, Contests, Vendor Booths, a Microchipping clinic, etc. etc. etc. Check out the website, www.lancasterbarkatthepark.org , and plan to come! Be sure to check out the Fashion Parade and Man's Best Friend contests, I'd love to see a yorkie win one of these, and the prizes are huge gift baskets filled with all kinds of goodies. :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa We'll have a yorkie meetup sometime during the day, and we'll let you know what time/where. I posted on your other thread and ask if the meet-up would be the same day as the Bark in the Park. Glad to see it is! That should be a fantastic day and I'm going to plan on going to the high desert to join the fun and meet lots of YTers for sure. :D

neat to see others so close by! I am in the middle of the mojave desert. We live about 15 minutes away from Edwards AFB..

Looks like there are a bunch of us in the high desert. We should plan a meetup sometime. Starting to get cooler, so it probably should be soon or wait until spring.
Anybody up for it? Or we could all plan to meet at the Bark in the Park.... Is someone already organizing a meet up there?

I'm not in the high desert...I'm in the LOW desert, haha....92211, "Playground of the Presidents" (= boring). I have 1 Yorkie, but want at least one more!

I sent an email to Kathy who posted above about the Bark in the Park. I am hoping she will come on and give us more info about the when/where. etc of the meetup planned at the bark in the park in Lancaster.

Wow, I didn't realize there were so many of us here in the high desert!!! My sister, Janet and I, have been breeding yorkies for a number of years, and each year we invite those that have gotten yorkies from us to the Bark at the Park. So yorkies are fairly well represented at this event. It's so much fun!

I posted information on the regional board as well, but I'll post it here too. I hope a good many of you can come!

"Yes, we will have a meetup the same day. My sister and I run the raffle booth, so let's meet there at 2:00. Of course, you may stop and say hello anytime during the day. Last year, Latuya (Monica) came with gus... all 3 pounds of him, and a few others. The website is a little hard to navigate, but there is a Pet Parade put on by the Girl Scouts at 11 a.m., with prizes for the cutest Girl Scout Uniform, Peppiest Pooch, and Prettiest Pooch. Then, at 12, there are the man's best friend contests, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes for each category... best trick, look-a-like, best singing dog, best dressed, and best human barker. Then, at 1, there will be a live auction, with winner's choice of a gorgeous pink or blue stroller, weekend getaways to Miracle Springs Resort Spa in Palm Springs or a Bed & Breakfast in Mendocino, a girl's bike, a year's worth of dog food (maybe a decade's worth for a yorkie!), etc. There are numerous raffles as well, with dog beds, carriers, baskets, etc.

This event is held at Lancaster City Park. You can find directions on the website, www.lancasterbarkatthepark.org, or you can email me - KathyBATP@aol.com . There's something there for everyone.

Thanks for all of the info Cathy. I for one am going to try to make it. Hopefully will be bringing 3 yorkie furbabies with us. (Mom(Sunshine) and Beamer and Rainbow (her 23 week old babies))
