Bee Stings Anyone? Wondering if anyone has any advice for first aid in the event of a bee sting, honey bee, etc.? I caught Bailey just as he had way-layed a honey bee but it hadnt stung him. Thanks all ;) Samc and Bailey |
I am not sure if this is helpful, but we had a cat (THE BEST CAT EVER! MILO) in England who had his paw stung. We rushed him to the vet and all he did was run his paw under cold water and make sure the stinger was out. I'm not sure if that is correct but there was never any problems because of it. |
Thanks, I don't know if he got bit in or around his mouth how agreeable he would be to allowing me to remove the stinger. Yipes!!! |
I experienced this when Bailey was abt 12 wks old,,, It was unreal,, he started yipping at the top of his lungs,,, I brought him back in,, and was trying to figure out WHAT happened,, but he was holding his paw up,, limping,,so I figured and it just so happened there was a guy in the office that saw and HEARD him and he said I bet he got stung, cause it happened to my dog the other day.... So we went back in the shop, cause he was SOO loud,,, and I held him and his mouth cause he was trying to bite the guy as he held his foot and looked for a stinger,,, then he saw it and pulled it out,,,and he settled down,, and only limped for about an hour,, then he was fine, like it never happened,, but I was freakin' out,, i thought what if hes allergic,,, I didnt even know if there would be a stinger or not,,, I was lucky that guy was here,,, cause I was clueless!! But it all worked out! |
Gucci has never been bitten by a bee or anything yet, but I live in the county in TX and it's hot out now and it's time for scorpions. My mother is allergic and I've never been bitten by one, so i'm scared, but i'm more scared about my Gucci getting bit when i'm not there and what it will do to him. Any comments on what I should do just in cause I can't get him to the vet. But i'm not talking about just one or two scorpions a year. Last year we killed at least 15 we could see. |

make sure you take the stinger out then make a little compress of baking soda and water, if its on the paw I wrap it for a couple hours it soothes the stinging. |
I was actually wondering this myself. I decided that I would call the vet and get a just in case solution. We get tons of bees in the flower bed by our front walk and I can just see Reagan getting stung. We havne't gotten the flowers out yet this year so we don't have the bees yet either. But I'm going to make sure to call the vet and find out what to do just in case she gets stung. I would also recommend this (calling the vet before hand just in case) about the scorpions and I feel your pain about them too. We used to get them at the house I used to live in and I was scared to death of them for some reason. The funny thing is I was the only one scared of them in the house and also the only one who got stung, twice to be exact. |
