I'm looking to buy a yorkie..Any online sites that are LEGIT? Hi everyone :), I'm looking to buy a yorkie, I tried Pennysaver (i tried it..got scammed) as i tried other sites as well and got scammed from there too..:\ ..i tried Animal shelters and they didn't have yorkies there :(.. Has anyone gotten a yorkie from a site that doesn't scam.. If so can you please link me the site? Thanks! :) |
I would be weary of buying from an online site. If it were me buying, I would prefer direct contact with a breeder allowing me to visit on site where the pups are being kept and I am able to see the conditions, and if parents are on site. Try looking in the local newspaper classifieds. Im sure you'll find something. |
Try the YTCA website. They are the mother club for the Yorkshire Terrier and they have a breeder referral list. It will take time and research on your part to weed through the bad breeders (I hope there are no scammers there) but if you do your part and not rush into a purchase it will be well worth it. Good luck! I hope you find your perfect forever furry friend. :) I forgot to add, DO NOT BUY FROM A WEBSITE! You don't know what you are getting if you do that. Will the puppy be healthy? Will it be what they said it will be? There are so many horror stories on YT alone.... Buy local, meet the breeder, the parents of your puppy, and find out what health testing was done to help make sure your pup will be healthy. Like I said, it will take a while, but it will all be worth it. |

I feel your pain. I got a lot of attitude from the breeders I contacted, requests for way too much info from the yorkie rescue groups and 'teacup' scams online. Good luck. |
I just sent you a PM about a very reputable breeder who's been showing Yorkies for about 30 years. If she doesn't have any puppies right now, she may know who does. Good luck in your search. |
I'm not sure if these shelters are near you, but here are just a few from Petfinder.com Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie | Orange, CA | Sprite Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie | Spring Valley, CA | Sydney Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie | Oakley, CA | DANDYLION in LAS VEGAS, NV Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie | Oakley, CA | PETUNIA in LAS VEGAS, NV Good luck in your search. |
Hi! Could I get your recommendation, too.....I am still looking myself....Thanks...(Just visited a "newspaper advertiser that had a yorkie for $1,000 supposedly excellent bloodlines and the dear little girl had practically no teeth and a terrible coat!!!! Thanks (gsani@mail.com) |
wow i didnt know there was a Spring Valley, CA there is also a Spring Valley, NY I used to live at! #random |
Mari, I know that I am not a scammer, but I just have one lil guy. I'm not a 'breeder' per se, just had 7 litters since 1996. Mostly for people who wanted my lovely lil babies... both Yorkies and Min Pins. This lil boy is just adorable. Will likely be his daddy's size, 5 lbs. Mom is a bit larger at 7. These are appropriate sizes for both breeds, but everyone seems to think they're large because all of the ads out there that LIE! So sad! |
Have you tried yorkie rescue places? Southern California Yorkie Rescue Home - Yorkie Rescue - Southern California Looking for a New Home... |
DON'T buy yorkies on line or news papers! You get what you pay for! Pay cheap now and have thousand of dollars in vet bills for the rest of the yorkies life! Pay the upfront $$$'s now and hopefully you will have a healthy dog for the rest of it's life! Go to Dog Shows and only by from a Yorkie Show Family...no I don't show nor breed but I'm now looking for a 4th yorkie after 15 years with one dog! Ask Questions and check Pedigree! If no CH. by the pedigree name...they don't show much if any! Good Luck |

No good breeder will sell from a website, they might have a website, but they won't sell from one. A good breeder will insist on meeting you and you should meet them and decide if the way they are raising their dogs is humane. The breeders who sell directly to the public, need no license, and some of the worse puppy mills in the world have adorable websites. There are even some puppy mill breeders who are members of yorkietalk! If you care about dogs, please visit the breeder's home. |
So True!!!!!!!!! Just do your home work and visit the breeders house! See the Mom Yorkie and Dad if possible as this is what YOUR new baby will more than likely look like as an adult! This is a Lifetime commitment (could be 16+ yrs) don't rush into buying a new family member! :aimeeyork |

Steve is a co worker friend of Scott's (my fiance) was relocating to Sydney, AU for work and didn't want to put her through the 6 month quarantine process. The family asked Scott if we would like to adopt Lillybelle their 3 year old "Yorkie"! After careful consideration we said YES!!! (like I could ever say no) We changed her name to Bella and she came to live with us in July 2011. She is very sweet, very loving and has a BIG personality. She's becoming quite the "jet-setter" as we try to take her everywhere with us. We CANNOT imagine our lives without her. Bella was born on 6/22/08 She is an amazing little dog. She loves everyone she meets. She has such a beautiful coat but we keep her in a puppy cut or a westie cut. The only health problem she has is a trachea issue but nothing too bad. She seems to have "good knees" too. |
Star Yorkies does not have a very good track record here. See thread http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...ca-encino.html |
