Dog Park
 
If anyone lives near El Dorado Park in Long Beach, on facebook for the parks and recreation they have a discussion page. I would love it if people would say we would like a dog park, and maybe a separation for small dogs. This is probably a shot in the dark, but never hurts to ask???

The dog park in El Segundo has a seperation for small dogs! :) If you ever want to meet up there, let me know! :)

We do have one by Wilson high school, but I heard it was really stinky and not maintained. Maybe I am being silly, thanks for the invite. It would still be like a 45 minute drive for me, so I will have to see about that.
We just have such a large park down here, that a dog park would not be any big dent in the park. So I am going to make it my goal to keep pushing for a dog park.:D

I hope they see the light and add a dog park! :) If you need any help convincing them, let me know! :) I can help make phone calls or circulate petitions. I lived in Long Beach for a while. Just moved 3 months ago. And there are A LOT of dog lovers! I think you'd have tons of support! :) :)

That is great, I know that on Facebook they have a page and under discussion it ask, what would you like to see in your park. I see some young girl posted, then I did. I think we just have to get more people involved. I am not sure how to start, but I do know I live by this park and
they have a ton of dogs in the area.
I would like to see it be a Pay by the year so it is maintained and maybe volunteer on the hours open and also maybe agility equipment. Would that be the nicest dog park ever.
I am taking suggestions, so please let me know what you think??? I just retired so I am looking for things to do with my girls and this would be a dream come true. :D

Dog parks are a great idea! But unfortunately they can be trouble also. One would think "responsible" dog owners would clean up after their dogs, especially since most parks have ample waste disposal tools. Not so! I've been to a half dozen or so parks and I always find the same issue; DOG POOP EVERYWHERE!

I've observed dogs with open sores, bleeding butts, and "who knows what" types of skin maladies! Yikes! Since my little Zena usually igonores all the dogs anyway, we've stop taking her to dog parks, opting for regular dog friendly parks instead. Dog parks can be a hotbed of filth and disease and IMHO it is not worth the risk to our little Zena. My nickel's worth.
