Earthquake-So Cal YTers, are you ok??? Just wanted to know if all So Cal YTers are ok. Small earthquake compared to something like the '94 one. It's still enough to get people to jump under a desk!:p So if you're from So Cal, I wanna know if you and your babies are ok!! |
we're safe here! it was still scary.. and lasted for a bit! Avery was scared.. glad i was home to make her feel safe! Thanks for checkin in!! ;) Hope everyone else & their babies are ok too!! |
I am ok. My stepson says my baby is ok, but I cant wait to get off work so I can give him a big hug! |
Good to hear so far :thumbup:I hope more check in. I am SOOOOOOOOO scared of Quakes! EEEK I pray everyone is ok. |
we felt it out here in the desert. We are about 125 miles from Chino Hills. I don't think my babies felt it, but I did cause I was sitting here at my desk and felt it move from side to side. |
I'm about 5 miles from Chino Hills. It was a pretty big shake up. Chloe barked her head off, the house swayed and rolled, and it seemed to last for a whole minute! We're okay though. Nothing even fell over--not even a picture. |
How scarey! I will take hurricanes any day. At least we have a few days warning! Glad everyone is ok so far |

GLAD EVERYONE IS OK! ;) :) xoxo. |
Glad it sounds like all my SoCal friends are ok. I was driving home on the freeway when the quake hit, and it threw me onto the shoulder of the road. I thought I'd had a blow-out, but when I saw 2 other vehicles pulling to the side of the road, and 1 man actually got out and walked around his car to check his tires, I knew it was NOT likely that we'd ALL had a blow-out at the same time! That's when I heard the breaking news on the radio. When I got home, we had broken oil and vinegar bottles all over the kitchen, living room, and dining room floors (those bottles with fruits and veggies in them that you sit out in the kitchen for decoration...and MAN...the glass flew everywhere). I finally got all the glass cleaned up (I HOPE) and cleaned the floor with bleach where the dyed oil had stained the floor, but the house REEKED of vinegar!!!! It's finally going away now. The salt water from the fish tank (a 240-gallon tank) went all over the carpet and nearby furniture, and it actually moved the heavy wooden top cabinet piece OFF the edge of the fish tank...crazy! We still have a LOT of stuff knocked over, thrown out of place, drawers open, etc., but I'm working on getting all that straightened up before I go to bed. The girls were going crazy when I got home (luckily I was on my way home anyway when it hit), and a bunch of stuff had fallen off the shelves in their room too. Luckily it's all small stuff and Hello Kitty stuffed animals, so nothing that can hurt them! Mapquest says we're less than 5 miles from the epicenter, so our damage could've been much worse!! This was my first experience with an earthquake, and hubby tells me to be glad I was driving because I would've been FREAKING OUT had I been at home to really "feel" it. He knows me so well!!! |

They evacuated the courthouse for safety precautions, and since we were done, I went home. I worried the whole way home about the girls -- and my family, of course, but I knew they would be okay. When I walked in my room, I woke them from their nap. That was about 40 mins. later. It's very disconcerting when you can't get a hold of anyone because the cell phones aren't working. Now, really, what good are they (the cell phones)? |
Glad to hear everyone is ok! I had a feeling others would think my thread was dumb... This earthquake was so weird! I just got home from the optometrist, and I had my eyes dilated so I really couldn't see. I didn't feel the quake at all! My little brother came into the living room to tell me there was an earthquake. I blame being disoriented for not even noticing the earthquake. But then again I'm in Irvine, no where near the epicenter. It gave my room mate a scare though!:) |

glad all are safe! ;) |
It's pretty funny how Ash ( my puppy ) was looking around during the earthquake and after the earthquake he started barking. |
Mia acting so weird now We are all fine. Before the quake hit Mia started barking. She was shaking and got really nervous. Now she is barking at every little thing. She has been barking at the tv , the washing machine, the ice maker. Anything that makes the slightest noise, she barks at it. I hope she calms down soon. She is really good about going potty on her pad in the bath room, or outside, but tonight she started to do her business in the bathroom then came and finished in the living room, right in front of the tv. I hope she is back to normal soon. She is so scared she does not want to leave my sight. Guess I will try rescue remedy tomorrow. Any suggestions anyone?? |

I think maybe that is why they and you got some broken bottles and glass. Perhaps because you live in the hills makes it more intense. Where I live is about as flat as anything can be. Thank goodness all your fish tank did was lose a little water. If that had broken, that would have been a nightmare! You are a true Californian now, though, since you've had your first real quake! Welcome to the club! :p LOL |
