Bad Breeder in Bridge City, TX (Puppy Mill from Houston) Please if anyone is thinking about buying a pup in the Beaumont/Golden Triangle area, please do not buy from a lady named, Karen Nguyen in Bridge City. Just in the last month, I've come in contact with 8 puppys and only 3 are still alive! NONE of us have ever rec'd our AKC papers. After alot of investigating we believe she's simply a broker for a puppy mill in the Houston area, possibly relatives of hers. We are looking into filing a class-action lawsuit against her. It's my understanding that AKC has been to her house and inspected but they didn't find anything. I'll be contacting AKC directly but first I have a DISPUTE RESOLUTION (mediation) appointment this Thursday. I doubt she'll show up but it looks good to the judge if I at least tried. :smileyfla |
That is SO sad. What has been the cause of death for these little ones? Has an autopsy been done? |
i am so sorry for the loss of those babies. keep us posted to what happens |
Oh that is so sad! I don't think I have heard of her, but I will let everyone know around here (I live closer to BC)....Is she listed on Southeasttexas.com or anything???? |
Yes, that's where I found her! She ALWAYS has ads for Yorkies and Chihuahua's on there. Her numbers start with 313-... or 330-....in Bridge City. Please warn everyone about her. I've talked with 6 other people (8 pups) and only three are still alive. NO ONE has rec'd AKC papers...I go to DISPUTE RESOLUTION (mediation) about it on Thursday. I doubt she'll show up but I have to prove to a judge that I TRIED to settle this but to no avail! Thanks! |
Also, you might remember my post in July titled "Coccidia, what to expect?", that was while I was still struggling with Dot's health and, ultimately, her death. By the time my vet called to say she'd passed, I just couldn't do it anymore. He asked if I was going to have an autopsy done because if so, then he would have to prepare her body. I told him no, that I was coming to get her and "do the right thing" I just couldn't do anymore to her little body. I know that she was technically "gone" but I just couldn't "hurt" her anymore. That was Tuesday, July 24th. On Friday, July 27th, I went on southeasttexas.com to see if she had any other ads on there and she had a Yorkie on there with the same birthdate as mine and I had supposedly bought the last one from a litter of three (one died because it was too small) and the "greeder" showed me a receipt on the other pup she had sold for $1200. Now...I was livid when I saw that ad so I posted an ad warning people not to buy from a specific lady in Orange/Bridge City area. They pulled my ad after only 6 days but boy did I get some responses anyway! Several people contacted me and told me she's been doing this for a long time. So far, I've found one lady who bought a pup at Christmas time in 2004, at 5:00PM, and at 3:00AM the next morning, she was dead. The breeder told her that she must have dropped it on it's head and that she didn't know how to take care of animals! They argued for a while and then the "greeder" agreed to give her another one, but it was be a long wait. She waited 3 months and when she went to go get the pup the "greeder" tried to charge her $500 for it! They argued again and my friend ended up giving her $200 for the pup. That puppy died in 10 days. She had a lawyer send a registered letter but never rec'd a response. She turned her into AKC but to nothing ever came of it. I suspect she's simply a broker and I am also under the impression that she has relatives in Houston that she brokers these dogs for. We may never find the PUPPY MILL but I'm trying my darndest! One lady in Houston has two pups from her. Supposedly sisters. She's never rec'd the AKC papers so she's not for sure. They were born shortly after my pup in April. Today she had to rush one to the vet because of mucousy/bloody diarrhea. The vet told her the pup had a severe bacteria infection and if she had waited to bring the pup in, she would have died. The local news station contacted me today, I emailed them last night, and they might be interested in doing a story. The sad thing is that TEXAS doesn't have a LEMON LAW for dogs/cats. Florida has a GREAT one! Even Arkansas has one. I found that the Humane Society of the United States, HSUS.org, has filed a class-action lawsuit in Florida against a puppy mill on July 18th. I'm hoping through all my efforts to get something like that on the books in TEXAS. If you have the time, please visit the Humane Society's website and you will be directed on how to write our representatives requesting that they get SOMETHING on the books on behalf of innocent dogs/cats! The more requests flood their offices the more likely they will understand that there is a great need for such laws! Our pups deserve it!:xfingers: |
 I seen your warning post on Southeasttexas.com!! That is just so sad that someone would do that to those poor puppies and their families. They have no heart at all. I'm so sorry for your loss. Like I said, I am going to alert anyone I can about her. What were the living conditions??? I really hate that we don't have a lemon law too....if they have food, water, and shelter...then the state thinks everything is "fine".... :( |

Today is Saturday, Sept. 1, and the mediator was unable to get a hold of Karen (aka: Karen Nguyen) and her legal name is Ka Ean Truong, she's Asian. The mediator said that when she attempted to contact Karen, in her cell number, no one would return the calls and when she called the house number, they said she didn't live there anymore! I told her if she called and stated she wanted to buy a puppy then I'm sure Karen would have gotten on the phone! The mediator said she would send me a letter stating everything so that I could show the judge that I attempted every avenue to settle this. I never heard from the news station (go figure) but HSUS.org did respond and said that the other people involved needed to file a complaint with them and after enough complaints were received, then they would look into it...this is the response: Dear Michelle, Thanks for writing to the Humane Society of the United States . I am so sorry to hear about the death of your puppy. I am glad to know you are taking action. Please urge everyone you know who has purchased a sick puppy from this person to send us their documentation. We collect all such data in a searchable database so that we can identify problem stores/ sellers and other trends. Please print out the Humane Society of the United States Breeder Complaint form at http://files.hsus.org/web-files/PDF/...laint_form.pdf. If we can gather enough information about this breeder, we can take further action. In addition, have you complained to the AKC about this person? If so, what was the response? Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Kathleen Summers Program Assistant, Puppy Mills The Humane Society of the United States 2100 L Street NW Washington, DC 20037 ksummers@humanesociety.org 301-721-6449 www.StopPuppyMills.com www.PuppyBuyersGuide.com so now everyone can report the breeder I bought from and/or have the above information handy when you do come across the same circumstances! I plan on filing in Small Claims Court now. Don't know when...probably next payday. I just bought a new pup today and she's a real rounder! She's everything my "Dot" (RIP) wasn't. I have upcoming vet charges to pay to get this one checked out and I'll let everyone know how the outcome of my case is! |
Oh my goodness !!  Miss Mary was talking about getting a yorkie from there as well but she wasn't able to drive down to put him up !!  Thanks for the heads up !!  |

Oh wow... I'm sorry for your loss and the others also. I can't believe you have to experience this... |
