Evelyn Lutz Middleville, Michigan dishonest breeder review I posted a thread on the general yorkie forum about what happened to me but thought I should post the sellers information here so anyone else in Michigan can steer clear. I was going to purchase a puppy from Evelyn Lutz in Michigan(in Middleville, close to Caledonia). She advertises at local vets and this week has an ad coming out in the Grand Rapids Press. Anyway, when I came to pick out a puppy she increased her price(raised it to $4500!!) and told me I could buy a larger one for $3,000. Even though we had already agreed on price and she had told me I could choose which ever one I wanted and I visited every week(also bringing her gifts). I was floored and my 10 year old son, who went with me couldn't believe that she lied "right to my face" as he put it. She doesn't have a website but uses two different phone numbers: 269-484-4795 616-260-0015 Also she was trying to tell me that she had her 2 pound female just bred  She has 8 yorkies plus puppies that she mainly keeps outside all day. She will also use pictures of her smaller dogs to advertise puppies that are from completely different lines and parents. Needless to say, I didn't buy from her too many warning bells. |
She bred a 2 lb Female ? That's just sickening and anyone can see how wrong that is - that poor girl I posted in your other thread but good for you putting the word out on her - she sounds dishonest, money hungry and totally UNCARING about her dogs and customers - it's breeders like her that give others a bad name |
That's so wrong |
breeding a 2lb. female? she should have to go through the pain and agony she will be putting that poor dog through, herself!! |
i know this is crazy but is this her: http://www.pioneerlaughlin.com/pione...winners013.htm |
Its sad that there are people out there like that... Sorry for your bad encounter. You did the right thing by making others aware of this and hopefully she'll loose a few potential buyers by this... :aimeeyork |
Yes! That link of the winners in Nevada does show her. How funny is that? It really wasn't the amount she was asking that bothered me so much(although it's a ridiculous amount IMHO). It was that she introduced herself to me a year ago because she thought my yorkie was beautiful and I trusted her. I visited her a few times over the past year and when I went through an online scam she told me I should have just bought one from her(she travels for half the year so she wasn't around when I was first looking). It's bad enough when a stranger tries to scam you but it's worse when it's someone you treated as a friend(before I was even considering buying a puppy from her I would bring her dogs treats or drop off yorkie things I thought she'd like). I really did not see this coming because she called ME and I never thought that the amount I agreed to pay wouldn't be enough money for her. It's only now that I can see all the times she'd lie to suit herself. I just got the new dog id tags in the mail that I ordered, including one I had made for my new puppy. I feel so much anger and sadness. |
That is so sad what happened to you and what she is doing to potential yorkie buyers. I would be so sad and hurt as well. |
She's now selling on livedeal. Just a warning for those out there: http://www.livedeal.com/ShowItemDeta...y=2034&br=true This breeder(or as I call "greed-er") should be avoided if you don't want heartache and a lot of stress, your choice taken away or the price raised.:thumbdown |
I dont like seeing pic of babies in a cup:thumbdown just trying to make more money:mad: thanks for the heads up;) I have heard of her name before. |
She's now started her own website: http://www.geocities.com/elyorkies/Yorkies.html She has the puppy for sale for $6,000. I also see she has a male for sale that she has said is 2.5 pounds and he was much bigger than that in person. My heart just breaks everytime I think of this horrible person. |
i wonder if she acutally sells those puppies for that much? heck, mine are priced at one-sixth that and I still can't sell them!!!!!!!!!! Maybe if I stick them in a "teacup".:D |
how sad. those poor dogs! people like that need to be stopped.ASAP! |
Just an update, hoping that anyone who searches after finding her site sees this. She added weights to her site and they are of course, lies. She has Ezzie as 2 pounds(she told me 3 3/4 lbs and that was quite some time ago and that she was 3 years old not 5) and the poor dog only has one eye, her male-Hank as 2 pounds(he's over 3 pounds too which I think you can even tell from that picture, he's probably closer to 4). She did have one female that was two pounds(the one she was bragging she had bred, named Bella, who she bred to Hank who is larger of course. I know most breeders know not to breed a larger male to a smaller female, which I told her. I'm hoping that anyone who stumbles on her ads knows to do a Google search before buying. YT threads always show up. Thankfully! It's saved quite a few buyers on here. I hope buyers know that if you catch a breeder in a lie to know that it's most likely NOT the only lie they've told you. |
E. Lutz Having just joined this thread I am amazed at how everyone is so quick and willing to take someones word for actual fact. I have purchased two Yorkies from Evelyn Lutz over the past three years and several others from other breeders in the Michigan area. I had contact with Mrs Lutz out West and then followed up after she returned here to Michigan. I cannot say anything but good about her. Her prices quoted were exactly as we had discussed and the dogs I picked out were indeed the very ones we wanted and received. I did not pay anything close to the amount that someone posted here as both of them were under $1000.00. I am however aware that she has some for greater amounts based on size, confirmation, color, pedigree etc. I was pleased to have a price range to select from.I have seen the little Hank she uses for her breeding, in fact I have one of his puppies, and after reading some of these posts I took my own digital scale with me and he is just over two pounds which is the weight represented by Mrs. Lutz. I am questing the possibility of if there is a vindictive spirit being presented here as a so called warning to perspective buyers. It does seem like there are always two sides to be heard from before making a judgement call. I would hope that if someone had a problem with my business they would come to me so we could try and resolve it in a professional manner. Sometimes I know that this cannot be done, but I feel everyone should at least try it before posting negative and harmful information about someone. In view of the crime on the internet and in our communities I certainly would find it very caustic to have my name address and phone number displayed for anyone to use. Mrs Lutz lost her husband many years ago and is somewhat more exposed than many of us. I love the Yorkies we have raised and am proud of the level of care we provide for them. If I needed someone to watch our dogs during a family emergency I would not have any problem with Mrs Lutz doing it if she would agree to it. I am in my late sixties as is my wife and we have learned to look for all sides before making decisions. I would hope all of us would do the same. Sometimes these post are based on personal goals and may or may not represent fairly all the facts. We each have a responsibility to check out information for ourselves before participating with something that could potentialloy ruin someones business or reputation. |

Disgusting to deal with if she thinks she can renig on a verbal contract and raise her price. Defiitely someone to run away from. |

It was good for her to put that out there so others interested from buying will know what to look for. What would the OP's personal goal in this situation be? I don't see her gaining anything. Ms. Lutz is a breeder/seller so her putting her information out there is what exposes her. If she didn't advertise and sold by word of mouth then she wouldnt' be exposed. So that being said the OP is not the one putting her in any jeopardy. The lady sells her dogs, posts ads online and in the papers so you can't blame this OP for putting the lady's business out there. She didn't disseminate any information that wasn't already being freely given by Ms. Lutz. |
evelyn lutz Just because it's first hand does not necessarily make it the truth or full truth Just because I made a post does not make it the truth and it also is "first hand". I get a vindictive spirit flavor from the zeal expressed in multiple post from her I love the Yorkies and we all should protect the integrity of the breed. I just think this has become very personal for someone and sometimes this slants the truth. I am NOT calling her a liar, but perhaps she is handling the truth somewhat recklessly in this situation. |
I have absolutely nothing to gain by posting what happened to me. I posted her ad on here where she was selling that puppy for $6,000. I didn't make up any amounts. People were able to see with their own eyes what she listed it for. I had $3,000 cash on me(the price she told me) and I refused to give it to her after she limited me to which puppy I could buy(after telling me I had pick of the two). She said right to my face that now the other puppy was going to be $4500 and then listed on line at livedeal for $6,000. Come on, who in their right mind would say that's a good breeder? Not a greedy breeder? She completely tried to scam me, in front of my son. It was a horrible experience. I hope the person who has bought from her notices that the next time she visits that NOT A SINGLE one of her dogs will come to her and sit by her. I did contact her first before posting. In person and via letter. She knows everything that happened and that she did all this while my 10 year old was there. I told her that I did not feel comfortable buying from her after she lied to me. I told her this in HER house. She didn't care. She bragged she bred Bella who is two pounds. The others are much larger than she put on her website. Honestly, if you catch someone in a lie, there's usually more. I was just too blind by my desire for a puppy to notice that if she was lying it could hurt me. Happily I have my Talula Grace who's almost 9 months old now. I do hope that I have saved someone from the heartache I went through and just wanted to let people know that you can be just as much scammed from someone local as on line. She also tried to get me to breed my little girl Lola. She said Lola and Hank would make beautiful puppies. I just kept telling her no, I didn't feel right doing that. Lola is around 3 1/2 pounds. Geeze, that's not a back yard breeder at all is it? People on YT are informed enough to make their own decisions and know what is right and what is wrong. |
I can't express how painful and sad the whole experience was. :( I'm glad the person who did get their puppies from her are happy. Everyone who's excited about getting a new puppy should have a positive experience. Mine was not and that IS a fact. |
KRB Final I Hope To all who are on this forum. For the sake of the breed and to keep this as professional as we can I hope we can now move on to other things. I am sorry for anyone that experiences a bad time with anyone. Hopefully we can exchange information on this site that will help each of us as breeders. I am really new ( 2nd set of puppies) and came to this hoping to exchange information that would benefit us all. We lost our "mon" of this last litter and are trying to raise the three puppies by hand. After a 9 hour session with the local vet and everything possible we could try she just could not make it. The puppies were 2 1/2 days old then and tomorrow they will be three weeks old. We have been feeding them by hand 24/7 and pray that God will help develop them into adults. If anyone has had this experience they will know it is hard to keep for a schedule and still get restorative rest yourself. At this point they are still being fed by hand the replacement milk that I mix. Does anyone know when I can start introducing them to milk in a bowl? any help would be appreciated. Thanking anyone in advance for any information given I will check back here daily. Thanks for "listening" to someone that is new and just loves what we are doing. KRB :) |
