CocoChannel Puppies / Dot's Spot Hi everyone, I used to be a very active member here under the name Tina21. I forgot my old login and PW and created a new account. I left for a long time due to my daughter becoming seriously ill and needing to care for her for a few years. Then my little Chloe became ill and well life went sideways. The reason that I am posting in this forum is to let you know what happened with Chloe and to provide a caution regarding the "breeder" that she was purchased from. My daughter bought Chloe in 2009 from Coco Channel Puppies in Toronto Ontario. The woman seemed nice and her dogs were friendly and sweet. Nothing seemed amiss. So we brought Chloe home and within 6 months my daughter declared Chloe mine. We have a very close bond. I took Chloe to the vets frequently as I wanted to ensure she was healthy and well cared for. Within the first year we discovered she had LP. I contacted the breeder as a courtesy to let her know and she never responded to my emails. When Chloe was discovered to have issues with her tear ducts I let her know and again nothing. When Chloe then developed a collapsing trachea I knew not to even bother. The woman just didn't care. I had assumed that any breeder who cared would appreciate knowing of any genetic issues as they would try to prevent them in future litters. I assumed wrong. Chloe died from CT. It was horrible and no furbaby should ever endure what my little girl did. Please avoid this breeder. |
Oh dear, such a sad story. Good news is she was loved and cares for by a great Yorkie mommie! Your story sort of drives the new thinking on buying a pup! Most of the better breeder now are all doing DNA testing to check for genetic issues. It is not perfect, but does help with those awful health surprises that can be costly and sis outraging. Some breeders are still resisting this step, but most are embracing it and YTCA has gotten on board with it! |
Oops sorry iPad locked up. This last update sucks. And then itmprint8ng a bunch of nonense when I kept tapping on it to get it to change. |
Thanks for your kind words. It's been a rough few weeks :( I have been looking into the breeders page and see that she advertises that she is C.K.C registered. I can find no reference to her on their site and in accordance to C.K.C regulations for breeders, all pups must be micro-chipped or bear a tattoo. Chloe had neither. I am in the process of contacting them to see if she is a registered breeder. If she is then it's clear to me that she is in breech of their regulations. I also have all the paperwork from her purchase and she has no C.K.C papers so another failure to comply. The breeder also boasts that she maintains a long term relationship with buyers. I know that's a lie. I can't change the horrible nature of her passing, that's something I will never recover fully from. I can't give her the long years she was entitled to but I can ensure that I am doing everything in my power to prevent another baby from going through this. Thanks again  |
Rest in Peace and Breathe Easy, Sweet Chloe :welcome4: :yorkietal Tina, it sounds like life has really thrown you come wicked curve balls. I sincerely hope and pray that your daughter has recovered from her illness. I am so very sorry to hear about poor precious little Chloe. Doing your research, reporting this breeder to CKC, and warning others to help them avoid the heartache you are experiencing is a wonderful tribute to Chloe. |
I spoke with the C.K.C and the breeder wasn't registered with them in 2009 when Chloe was purchased and although she was a member in the past she isn't currently. She is advertising her pups as registered as of today. Clearly she isn't reputable. The C.K.C knows now and I have been encouraged to file a case with small claims court. I don't care about being awarded any cash I simply want her to face repercussions for her actions. Obviously she is in it for the money and the money alone. So if I can see her have to part with what she seems to value most it will hopefully discourage her from doing this to anyone else. Thanks again for all the kindness <3 |
1st of all I am so sorry for you loss. I can't even imagine going through what you did. Just hearing your story breaks my heart. But I would suggest filing the small claims. No amount of money will ever erase the pain you have been through but if allowed to continue to breed with no repercussions this "greeder" will continue to break hearts. As you said she is only in it for the money and the only way she will stop is if the cash flow is stopped. Hit her where it hurts her - in the wallet. Hopefully you can win and maybe she will find another scam to run. Donate the money to a rescue organization that is full of furbabies because of people like her. I wish you the best. |
