Our Yorkies (Standard, Golden and Parti), Morkies and Maltese adults and puppies are all raised . . ." meaning she breeds mixes and whatever, she's not breeding to improve the breed, and probably isn't breeding for health and does no health testing. She also says, she allows pups to leave the mother from 8-10 weeks. While this complies with most state laws, it's not meant for the toy breed. The toy breed should stay with mama a minimum of 12 weeks and good breeders know this. Mama teaches important socialization skills between 8-12 weeks, such as inhibition of the biting reflex and she also helps with housebreaking a pup, by pushing her over to the pee pad when its bladder is full. People who buy younger dogs have more problems with housebreaking and biting. Also, her guarantee is worthless. Whoever you decide to buy from, please visit the breeder’s home and make sure the breeding dogs are being kept in good conditions.


Yorkies have been overbred by backyard breeders and have many genetic problems, if you're really wanting a Yorkie, you'd be safer to find a breeder who does health testing. I always recommend the YTCA site for breeder referral; you can find a breeder who's breeding to improve the breed, not just to supplement their income.

I learned so much from Yorkietalk. I bought a purebred dog years ago that had genetic illness, it was horrifying to watch him slowly die, He was paralyzed with blood coming out his rectum and the vet couldn’t' do anything for him, but did assured me he wasn't in any pain. My two sons were traumatized by seeing this, it was pure hell to go through, I'll never forget the look on my vets face when he said with a tear in his eye, "Damn backyard breeders." I didn't care if my dog was the most beautiful dog, I wanted a healthy dog, and you'll raise your chances of finding a healthy dog if you go to a breeder who knows her line and does health test. The plus side is you also get a dog that looks and acts like a Yorkie!
