I was the orignal post. She does have a kennel. We are driving out there so I will be able to see exactly where they have them. I have spoken with several people that have Yorkies from her. I have two people that went back and got another puppy from her. We plan to take her to the vet the same day we get her...before we head home. She said that they are very social and from what I have researched about her...she was not lying. |

Good luck and keep us posted  Oh, and pics too :D |
Rocky's Dad I know that you will find them to be outstanding breeders. They love the yorkies just as much as we do. Shirley kept Rocky for an additional 3 weeks because he was so small. We visited him and wanted to bring him home but we also knew that Shirley was taking very good care of him. We took him back for a visit with Ron and Shirley. I have been looking at a small female that they have. Would love to get her but we have Rocky and a 13 year old Yorkie/poodle mix. I am sure that you will be happy with the Bovays |
Just a quick correction in Rocky's Dad's post. USDA only requires licensure if you breed more than 3 dogs (your statement) AND if you sell wholesale to such firms as those that supply animals to retailers such as pet shops..Hunte corp is one of the larger brokers and that name can be found on a lot of the paperwork of USDA licensed breeders and puppies that are bought in the pet stores...I do wonder where all of those other puppies that were listed were housed.. Anybody know that answer?? This isnfo is just my understanding and anyone certainly can correct me if I am wromg.. |
Shirley has a huge plot of land in MO. I saw a picture of it on Google Earth. She has a kennel behind her house that has central air and heat just like her house. The people that have adopted her puppies have told me it is incredibly clean and taken care of. Her husband retired from teaching to take care of the animals full time. She does not sell puppies to a pet store. She finds each and everyone a home. They fell into breeding because of their love for Yorkies. I know most of you can relate. They only breed Yorkies and yes they have a lot of them. But, this is a huge family affair. Their grandkids are involved in showing the animals...the grandmother has a small business making clothes, harness and bows. This is hardly a family just in it for the money. They truly love taking care of the animals themselves. I researched EXTENSIVELY and I have spoken with over ten owners in lentgh from across the country and not one person has a single bad word to say about these people. They are sweet folk that are huge animal lovers. Everyone who has a puppy from them says that they are extremely socialized and they have had no health issues to speak of. I understand being cautious since there are soooooo many bad breeders in this world....but as we all know you can spot them from a mile away. I must say the overall judgemental additude and negativity I have experienced on YT makes me want to leave the site. It is not helpful to bash good people. And it takes a responsible person to research and find out if that person is into breeding for the right reasons. Fantasy yorkies exsist out of love for the yorkie as does Yorkietalk. There are several members on this site with puppies from her and they would say the same. I know this because I have spoken with them too. I have no connection to Shirley...as I live 900 miles away. I am driving 12 hours tomorrow to go get the puppy I chose over 7 weeks ago because I discovered through research she was the best in my opinion. This past 7 weeks has been a hard wait, but Shirley being a caring breeder has updated me every week with pictures and health info...such as her weight and eating habits. I have complete confidence in my decision. And I will recommend Shirley and Ron to anyone that wants to hear about them. |
Were are these show titles listed?? Help. Yeah, something's fishy. I'm sure you'll have no problems w/ the puppy, or at least history shows that your odds are good to have a happy, well adjusted puppy. If this kennel really is a "family affair" my one question-and this is not an attack, but a legitamate question is: If the whole family is responsible in caring for/socializing/breed and SHOWING these dogs, why can't I find any of these dogs on-line w/ ANY kennel club winning ANYTHING? (Conformation/Obedience/Tracking/Agility...something, but I've found nothing) There's gotta be something out there in a positive light on this breeder if they are really that good. Just point me in the right direction, I know someone interested in this kennel (not me-I went the difficult route and purchased my puppy from Hungary!). Thank You! :yorkiesar ~Leslie |
What about prices I looked at her yorkies too but never could get a response by email of what sort of price range she had and that would totally determine my interest. I ended up getting a beautiful puppy from someone closer. I do wish that they would have responded to my emails though. I love their dogs and their website. |
i am learning alot here but my main concern are the females being bred. are they getting pregnant everytime they are in season? if so, i would think that is very hard on a yorkie's body since they are so small. i am sure the puppies are fine but what about the mothers and also, when the mothers cannot have puppies anymore, what happens to them?? |

That is really odd. Shirley responded to my first email the same day...and I sent a lot of emails in the 6 weeks I waited. She answered them all within an adequate time frame (or she called). I paid 1200.00 for my little girl. She was 10 weeks old and 2.6lbs. She is doing great! |
Wow, big girl. I hope you're enjoying her. In either case, I still can't find out anything positive on this breeder (everything negative about her is just based on what she says or her website). Her behaviour is quite odd. She hasn't responded to any of my e-mails (2) either (just an inquiry of what she had available). $1,200 is an interesting price for someone of her calibre. Do you mind me asking who the mother and father are of your puppy? I'm curious just to see so I can find more info. about where she's getting her dogs and what health problems lye in the lineage, if any. Thanks in advance. |

Big girl? According to the vet and the toy breed chart she is going to be 5-6 lbs (standard). I guess you would hate to hear how big our little boy is! He is now 3.9 at 13 weeks. We wanted the biggest in the litter. IMO the little guys under 4 lbs almost barely stand a chance in this world. This breed used to be over 10 lbs. I see nothing wrong with her size. I guess I don't like your choice of words.... someone of her "calibre"? She states on the front page of her website that she only breeds for the love of the animal...and she only breeds PETS. She does not sell them to be show dogs...and never states otherwise. I searched around quite a bit and thought any dog over 1500.00 was extremely unreasonable for a family pet. I didn't spend that much to have both of my children in a hospital. I am just telling you what I saw with my own eyes. I met a family that love animals. Simple as that. It was clean and well taken care of. All the animals were in top form. Every body was groomed and bathed. She is a loving person that breed to very social and lovable puppies. I think we are looking for completely different things. Perhaps she is not the right breeder for your friend...but she was for me. The dogs are amazing in every aspect in OUR eyes. I know she is not a puppy mill and in my opinion she is not a "backyard breeder". I know her heart is where it should be. And yes we enjoy them both very much. Good luck researching. I hope you find what you are looking for. |

I have only been a member since Jan...and the negativity has been really getting to me. It seems like everyone attacks because they just assume the worst. |

I am soo glad you got a Yorkie!! Or lets say 2!! I am a newbe and am seeing that everyone on here is getting tooo....ugh what is the word?? I think you chose the right place in your opinion to purchase your yorkie, you saw that it was a nice clean place with trusting people and you did homework by researching -talking to others who have gotten a pup from this place before. I think you did good. That really is all that matters. It feels like people are criticizing your judgement which they may or may not be doing and they just want some answers for themselves but maybe the lady is only selling pet yorkies like you stated so they are not show quality and blah blah blah so you knew that and was fine with that. That is great. I accidentally got my pup at a pet store. Terrible I know, ( I know better now) but I am hoping she came from a breeder like this maybe or someone who just is not selling show dogs? My dog Lucy is happy, healthy, goodlooking and is now 3yrs old...As for everyone else who is researching Fantasy yorkies that is fine too if you find the fishyness etc but just post as FYI because people already have a fine pup from them. |
Rocky's Dad: "I can not understand why you are digging so hard to try to find out something negative about someone that you do not know. I purchased Rocky from Shirley and he is everything that she said he would be and more. He is so smart and so easy to train. I read YT several times each day since I retired and I have noticed several people attacking new members and people like Ron and Shirley. I have also noticed several members that will do everything they can for people in need (Gucci eating poison is a great example). A few people ruin things for everyone." ?!? What is your problem? (I'm not in a good mood today, if you care) I wasn't asking you so I can trash that breeder. Quite the opposite, thank you. ALL Yorkies are cute, ALL Yorkies have a fun personality-chill out. What I was trying to find out is if she breeds Yorkies w/ super personalities (not hard to do) AND if they have no health problems (harder to do). Okay? If you aren't interested in singing this breeders praises as far as health goes and her being able to produce happy, HEALTHY, well adjusted puppies, then that's fine. Just know that that's where my questioning was going. And I don't know that many people on here are critisizing to a fault other people, their ethics or breeding. I'm more inclined to believe that we have way too many over sensitive people on the forum that aren't interested in being open minded. If the truth hurts, or you aren't interested in helping those that are curious...sorry. |
Fantasy Yorkies If I misunderstood what you were trying to do or say, I apologize. I just happen to know Ron and Shirley and I know how much they love each of their dogs. They ensure that each puppy goes to a good home. They have been outstanding with us and all the people that I know that have purchased a puppy from them. Our Rocky is just as they told us he would be, He is 14 months and is 3.9 lbs of energy and love |

I at one time had inquired about her yorkies. She answered every email and beleive me I sent her a ton. She also invited me to her house to see her kennel and her yorkies. Very friendly lady and very helpful. |
Rocky's Dad- "If I misunderstood what you were trying to do or say, I apologize. I just happen to know Ron and Shirley and I know how much they love each of their dogs. They ensure that each puppy goes to a good home. They have been outstanding with us and all the people that I know that have purchased a puppy from them. Our Rocky is just as they told us he would be, He is 14 months and is 3.9 lbs of energy and love" No problem. And I have NO DOUBT that this "breeder" is doing a fine job as far as breeding personality goes. Like I said, that's not hard to do. We're talking Yorkies here. I was more interested in whether or not these dogs were also healthy. And I'm not talking current on their shots or things like that. I'm talking, are her dog's joints nice and tight-no dental issues (except for adult on set of course) and no heart or other organ problems. And I don't mean just in the mother and father (and Champions in the bloodlines have NOTHING to do w/ this), I also mean within 6 generations at least. Any puppies that she's produced that has had any of the above problems (or more)? That sort of thing. That's ALL I was asking for. It's much harder to find a breeder that has a whole package, than to find a breeder that has sweet, well adjusted Yorkies. That's the easy part! Now, whether they're falling apart on you at 3 years of age or younger or if they don't conform to the breed standard is another issue! Since I couldn't find any health certificates on her or any dogs she's produced (doesn't mean they don't exist, it just may mean I'm not looking in the right places) bothered me since there are a handful of people on here saying how wonderful she is and yet cannot tell anyone else WHY she's wonderful, except that they're sweet and happy puppies. Well, this can be very misleading and very unguided for a new potential home that goes to this breeder and sure they may spend $600 on a puppy. Then they get it home and realize that that $1000 that they just saved is now being spent on vet bills because they have a poor (physical) quality dog/Yorkie. |
My Illy is from Fantasy Yorkies too!!! Shirley was wonderful and they had very nice, clean conditions. They really loved the pups and took good care of them. |
I paid $1200 for Illy and she was worth every penny. Her father was Fantasy's Dundee and her mother was Fantasy's Martini. I met both parents when I went to pick her up. When I e-mailed Shirley for the first time, she responded within 2 hours. I was very pleased with her and her home. It was very clean and so was the kennel. I have no complaints about the Bovays. They were very loving people and seemed to care about the pups a lot. She even teared up when I was taking Illy away. I would recommend Fantasy Yorkie's to anyone. My baby has a clean bill of healh and has brought so much joy into my life. |
have been there I too have just put a deposit on a puppy from fantasy yorkies. I took a tour of her property and saw all of her dogs. She has her whelping dogs in the basement. She has her weaned puppies directly behind her house, and she has her other dogs in a hunte type house a ways down her property. The dogs in her house are her pets; they aren't breeding stock. All of her dogs are clean and well taken care of. She has numerous play areas for them to play. She had 4 customers in her home in the 2 hours I was there. If you want a pet from her she will answer your questions honestly. She will not suffer from not selling a dog to you.. she has plenty of loyal customers. I look forward to purchasing many more yorkies from her in the future :) |
How is someone able to see a breeder AKC records? That doesn't sound right? I want to find out about Fantasy yorkies. |
Hi, I just PM'd you about Fantasy Yorkies. |
I just got done reading this thread.....is everyone still happy with the Yorkies from Fantasy? |
So far so good I am totally thrilled with Shirley at Fantasy yorkies. She loves all of her fur children. I will post pics of her and my beloved Jasper. It took me a long time to find an honest @ reliable breeder.I would deffinatley refer fantasy yorkies.:aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
About Fantasy Yorkies I realize this is a very old conversation but I was looking up Fantasy Yorkies and found it by accident. Although Shirley Bovay has retired and no longer raising these sweeties I am trying to find her daughter, I heard she is raising yorkies and has new dogs and some of Shirley's older dogs. I am hoping she has carried on Shirley's bloodline because I have 2 of Shirley's dogs. Rufus & Mickey. My Rufus is now a very healthy 15 years old and Mickey is 13 years. Both of my boys are healthy and have been a joy for me and my husband. :animal36 I hope they are with us for many more years but when the time comes I hope to find a puppy from their bloodline :animal36 |
