Vet: Dr. Stephen Blake, San Diego, CA I would like to share my discovery of this wonderful vet with ll of my friends here at YT. Dr. Blake has been one of my vets since about August of this year. His website is www.thepetwhisperer.com and he tells his story best... In the beginning of my veterinary career, I practiced medicine as best I could with the tools I learned at Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine, which I graduated from in 1973. As the years rolled by, I began to question if what I had been taught was all there was for helping animals. In the early 1980s I became very ill, and I was lucky to find a homeopathic physician, Dr Gutu, who diagnosed pesticide toxicity. His advice was to stop being a veterinarian or wear rubber gloves or die. The gloves lasted about one patient and I knew that wasn’t going to work. I decided to require all clients not to use pesticides on their pets, or I couldn’t see them. To my amazement I got busier than ever and realized I had to learn new methods for caring for animals if chemicals were out. Where was I going to find this training? The answer came quickly. I met a fellow veterinarian, Dr. Carvel Tiegert, at a conference where he asked me a simple question, ‘Do you think vitamins are important in treating animals?’ I answered ‘yes’ and he put me on a quest to learn as much as I can about alternative medicine. I have been certified by the Homeopathic Veterinary Academy as a Homeopathic Veterinarian and as a Veterinary Acupuncturist by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. I mainly use Aromatherapy, Classical Homeopathy, Bach Flowers, massage, acupuncture and nutrition to care for my patients. I have found that 90% of time I am able to help animals with their medical needs without using drugs or surgery. The use of drugs and surgery have a place in veterinary medicine but their need is much less than we are led to believe. The Greek definition of physician is teacher and that is what I do my very best to do when caring for my animal friends. Any time someone tells me that that these alternatives will not work on animals, I respond with one of my favorite quotes that I found in a box of ginger snaps long ago."The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it!" He has taught me a lot and has helped me to provide better lives for my pets and for that I m grateful. He has patients all over the world and he does phone consultations so anyone on YT no matter where they live can use him. |

Your welcome Jodi! He is just so easy to talk to and so full of good information. I really like that he has the best interests of the animal at heart and not his pocketbook although he is not cheap either which I appreciate. He doesn't do surgeries or other procedures, so he refers me to specialists when my dogs need other care that he cannot provide and of course, in an emergency, I take take them the animal hospital whcih is staffed by specialists and is located just up the road in Rancho Santa Fe. |
Great Post SoCalYorkie! I would much rather not use chemicals if I don't have to. They have their place, but I prefer proper nutrition. |

San Diego breeders of baby-dolls... Hi SoCalyorkiLvr, I'm new to this board and have read several of your posts. Do you know of any breeders in the San Diego area that has teacup, baby-doll faced Yorkie pups that you could recommend? Would much appreciated any info you might have. Thanks |
